Is there a defect in the blackout mold?

Well I picked up blackout a couple days ago. I like the toy, except seems after the first transformation that putting him back into helicopter mode just isn't happening. Every time I push on the legs to lock them into the roof, his head pops up in the front! I noticed the waist was splitting apart, so I was determined my toy was broken, so I took it back, and exchanged it, but my new one does the same thing! Am I doing something wrong or is the toy messed up? Thanks

Mine does the same thing. It's a problem with the Automorph(dubbed retardomorph by certain people I know).
So far I haven't found a way to fix it. Maybe someone else has?

Mine did the same. The only way I found to repair it was to roemove the two screws on the side of the chest section, take of the side and realign the gears in the automorph.
Mines weird

Autobreak/stupid useless gimmicks claim yet another figure. Is it possible to open him up and remove whatever gears/springs are causing the problem (kind of like the 'remove the spring' fix for classic Camaro Bumblebee)? That would result in you simply have to transform him manually rather than relying on the Breakomorph, but frankly it might be worth it.

Some people have said you can remove and unscrew the gears/cogs to make it work better.
Mine doesn't really have a problem. And if the head bit doesn't rotate around going into alt mode, I just rotate it manually and there aint a problem.

I did the fix where you realign the gears, and it worked pretty well.

I guess you're among the lucky few who got a good one.

Again...after reading this thread I will not be transforming my Blackout. I do not want to even take the chance. May just repackage him and return it. I have him MISB in Voyager and in the gift set in bot mode so I know what he looks like without risking anything. Wonder if the ones in the gift sets are all screwed up? You think the people on the production line know how to transform him?

Interestingly, I am having a different problem. The Skorponok basket on my Blackout does not rotate for the transformation...okay with me since I actually like it better staying in place.

I had that same problem with Jazz, but I returned him and got a perfect non-defective one.
