me and a friend were at walmart on saturday, and they said tbey had some new tf shipments in the back room, but they couldn't get to them cos of all the crates in the way so they said to come back in 2 hours and theyd get em for us.
So we did, and when we did, there was nobody working in toys, nobody able to go back and get them, and it was just really retarded. So we complained to the manager, and he called liek 5 other walmarts and chcked his back and none of them had it sadly. However, he told the guy who stocks the toys that when they do come, to place them on hold, under the phone number we gave.
In a nutshell, take it up with the manager.

Have to agree with you, I worked at a TRU as a kid, the entire staff will do anything to prevent a scene.

I work at a TRU and I'd just like to say DONT COMPLAIN TO THE MANAGER! lol
Unless its at Walmart or Zellers. Then DO complain to the manager.
We have collectors coming in all the time looking for specific things, and if we can we will usually try to help them out. But people have actually been banned from the store for constantly coming in and complaining to a manager trying to get us to open boxes! And no manager will open a box if it isnt supposed to be opened just because someone wants them to. Some collectors can be so frustrating that it just ruins the "image" of collectors, and lessens the chance another guy (who might be nice) will be get good service.
The best thing you can do to improve your chances of getting what you want is be nice and courteous. If an employee likes you then they will go out of their way to help you, if they don't like you they will probably go out of their way to
not help you.

true. sometimes workers collect too, therefore tons of figures go out the back door.

I complain at TRU, but only because a few old high school friends work there. They hide the good stuff

Just to note. At TRU we can't take out any cases during open store hours. If someone asks for one of us to go in the back and look we have to turn them down even if it means a potential sale...Though if the stores around you are doing their job, the figures will be out on the floor long before the doors open to customers. Most stores aren't 'hiding' things in the back. They either are not allowed to bring them out because they aren't shaded tags or the shelves are full. Hell even if I were allowed to pull something from the back for someone I wouldn't. Because then I'd have an open case that I couldn't scan back into the stock room, and therefore I'd have to go scrounging for a ladder to put 5 extra figures up in the overstock valances. Meanwhile someone else working the floor would be getting my birthday clubs and credit card sales.

I know TRU is a little more strict with their employees, but other chains that I wont mention have blatantly hidden stock or held stock from the floor for the employees. It happens alot more than you think- TRU has toy policies, but other chains dont have those kind of policies, and some of the managers are push overs (they want to be liked by their employees). Yeah, I remember the TRU employees had to take a day off and wait in line for a wii like everyone else.

I bring pictures of the figures that I am looking for in package from sites like Seibertron.com once I hear that they are available in store. It helps track them down. A picture is worth a thousand words. Especially when trying to describe the item just by the name is next to useless.

It's a shame when good customer service takes a back seat to incentive sales like credit cards and birthday sales crap.
So far my best experience has been with a Target out of town. I was looking for Robo-Vision Prime and it seemed sold out everywhere. Well I called up this target and the guy I talked to was more than happy to check in the back for it (his suggestion even) and what did he find? A case full of them that had apparently never been put on the shelves for whatever reason. I bought two.
