Should I get Leader Megatron?

A Decepticon team is never complete without Megatron.

I have tried to remain open-minded about getting it, but honestly, Megatron seems more bad than good and most saddeningly, not worth it. Not like Leader Prime. His paintjob is bad, I've read his gimmicks are faulty, and his alt mode is not as cool as in the movie.

I would get Voyager Megatron because he's got a better fusion cannon, but I want scale accuracy to my Leader Prime, my Voyagers and Deluxes, so I would get Leader size if I got him at all.

I ask all LEader Megatron owners: do you enjoy him? Is he better when you are holding him in your hands? Is he worth the price? Do you recommend custom painting him when you get him?

Is Leader Megs worth having in your collection?

Now I don't own Leader Megs but I have seen one (and a steep $50 price tag too) and I don't think he's worth that much at all. Maybe if he was half price. It just seems all the quality and greatness was bestowed upon Prime and there just wasn't any left for Megatron.

Personally, I'm waiting for another version to come out. Scale is an issue for me, so voyager Megs is out. They would be dumb to not release another one, considering how horrible one the current one is. So, my friend, sit this one out and wait for the next.

ooh thats tough.... honestly you're on your own here....
....he's a love it or hate it type of toy. like you said in your post, theres good and bad things about him, its just that the bad outweigh the good. but honestly, if you're a completist, then go for him. but if you wanna play with him and make him do battle alongside the decepticons.... i dont know, because compared to the other decepticon movie figs his features make him pretty much useless. and dont even get me started on the paint job, but fixing that problem is custom paint. hope i was of any help but for that decision, its your choice.

That's exactly right.

Leader Megs isn't worth the full price. His colouring job is awful, his poseability is piss-poor, he's back-heavy and topples over easily. his head sculpt doesn't look like his movie self at all and it's painted on all the wrong places. His alt mode has his head just sticking out (I can imagine him screaming "look at me! I'm a super complex, advanced machine that transforms into a jet, but I can't hide my friggin' head in vehicle mode!!!") - the whole figure is just not designed well at all, compared to the other movie figures, he's just plain awful.

His only saving grace is that he is HUGE. His vehicle mode is enormous and it dwarves even Leader Prime.

But if you need to get Megatron, get this one - the Voyager class is even worse (he's blue for some reason, and has spaghetti for hands!). At least the Leader version is in scale with most of the other toys. Pick him up sure, but pick him up cheap (unless you're rich).

I wouldn't go that far because I like the majority of what they put out, but when they suck...they SUCK!

Megatron looks even more atrocious in alt mode. Seriously, what is that piece of crap? His head, arms, and legs are all visible. Damn, did they even try?

I refuse to ever buy this Megatron. No matter the cost.

Megatron is slightly taller than Prime, not by much, but it's noticeable when they stand next to each other...

I got Leader Megs cuz I didn't like the Voyager one.

As if the Leader version wasn't blue enough, they made voyager into a Frozen version of himself. ; \

Lesser of two evils choice for me.

Being a completist I had no choice. He is not the best looking TF from the movie line but I have seen worse from other lines.

I... kind of... like him. No doubt he looks better all customed up, but he's a big chunky thing and while I might still cry myself to sleep at night about spending £40 on him, Prime would look a bit lonely without him. My biggest complaint is that the legs are an utter, utter bitch to fold up underneath the wings. I'm with DepthCharge, get him if you want to complete the set, that's what I did.

Someone on this forum wrote Hasbro as Hasblow. Been waiting for ages to use that

In al seriousness, what the heck? They have one big chance to win critics over with an awesome toy of the new Megatron, and they stuff that up? Sigh

Do you guys think that there will be no repaint/remake of him that I will have to end up getting this Leader version?

you can always buy the custom repaints. But those go like about 10x higher the normal price.

hasblow that's a good one!! lol! i agree they keep thingking about marketing instead of quality as my sig says "if only Hasbro can apply good quality paint..." sigh... :(

Well, Hasbro has come up with great toys... look at Leader Prime... and the Cybertron line was pretty much 9/10...

what puzzles me is that why was Leader Prime so good, and Leader Megs an afterthought? Not that I want my Prime to be of any lesser quality, but I thought they would have put even more effort into Megatron thanks to his COMPLETELY new design and potential.

Heck, most of us would have bought a lesser Prime toy than the current one just because he is Prime.

There will be a repaint, at one time or another.
Hasbro need to make as much money as they possibly can out of a mould, that is why Megatron and Galvatron have been the same toy for the past few lines, it gives Hasbro an automatic repaint of a larger figure.

We already know that there will be 2 versions of Leader Brawl, the normal version will come out with Nightwatch Prime, Desert Attack Brawl has to ship with someone...

Hm, I wonder if they will recolour the current Megatron figure and call him 'Galvatron'. I actually wouldn't have a problem with that.

They need to repaint it and call it "Megatron" and retroactively rename the one we have "Oops", that baby-blue paint is awful.

Word. Or rename it Megaplex, and make up a story about how the Autobots were complacent at how 'Megatron''s colour scheme was terrible. Then out comes the new figure and they're like 'HOLY ****! A better painted Megaplex!'

'NO! I am the REAL MEGATRON!'

Just like Machine Wars fiasco.
