Why am I an idiot? Because I spent 2 grand on a gold figure? Because I have a job that gives me the disposable income to spend that kind of money on a figure? I don't get people who make comments like that.

Eh they are just jealous. We all wish we had that kind of disposable income. However those without it often act rather immaturely about it to make themselves feel better about not having that sort of money.

On the other hand "A fool and his money are soon parted" comes to mind as well. It is one thing to buy things you enjoy if you have the money. As long as you spend at least some of it wisely. Unfortunately those with limited means don't often understand that.

There is no reason to get antsy, Getter. I just think that is a bit much to spend on a kid's toy.

Ever watch the Simpsons?

"It's the same, but Malibu Stacey has a new hat!!!"

Same deal.

If spending that much on plastic brings you joy, hey, that is great. But I think it is close to insane.

It is not a question of wealth, which just proves in my mind these lucky draws are all about the status boost some collectors may feel at having something others will envy.

I own, apart from the new Porsche, almost everything I have ever wanted, from the Galvatron reissue, to the 2007 Kawasaki 650 Ninja in my garage...

I could buy a MISB Fort Max right now. In CASH.

But that is a waste of money in my mind when I have a Brave Maximus sitting right here.

The same thing goes for the "clear" Omega Prime TRU giftset and others like it...that command a premium...based...on...color...when all of them are made by 6 year-olds in China for .17 US/hr.

I fail to see the whole "lucky" thing.

So, if you feel lucky spending $1,000 US+ on a TOY, then you have more luck than I do.

But, like everything, your mileage may vary.

(Sorry about the whole "could care less..." thing, I suppose it is only we Yanks who use improper English...not like someone who may live in Blackpool or anywhere outside of London, right?)

I never understood why other people can't seem to understand other peoples luxuries. It's all relative, there are somethings I could never see spending money on that other people do. The difference is that I don't put people down for buying what I would consider frivolous items. Besides it's also all relative, a $2,000 figure was the cost of tuning the engine in my last car...and tuning has absolutely no resale value.

It does if you plan on keeping it running...otherwise, your car becomes a very large lawn ornament.

You must not know much about engines then, friend.

I took it out of context. The engine was a transplant (Supra into a Lexus) with a custom engine management system. It wasn't running vs non-running, it was 400hp vs 700hp. But it was a lot of labor, which really can't be resold. Either ways race cars is a hobby that many people consider frivoulous spending. I don't.

My point is there is an ass for every seat, it just doesn't mean someones retarded for picking the seat that they wanted. Get it?

My friend is converting his Supra from NA to a Turbo, so he must feel your pain.

I "get" your point, but I don't "get" it at the same time, so we will not see eye-to-eye.

Whatever floats your boat, Getter. that does not mean I am going to get seasick with you, that's all I'm saying.

Saying that one is a retard for buying a figure over $1000 is an insult to people that bought a figure over for $1000. So it might be electrons on my screen, but one of the rules of this site is no insults:

1. No flaming, trolling, harassing, or baiting other guests.
Flaming should be self evident, trolling means to make posts or threads for the intended purpose of starting an argument, while baiting is any post intended to make another user resort to flaming. Harassment means following a user or group of users around through multiple threads to flame them, bait them, or otherwise cause them to want to avoid the boards because of a user's actions towards them. If there is a discussion and there ends up some sort of disagreement on someone's personal opinion, simply try and respect each others opinions without forcing them on others.

Example of a disagreement with opinions

Your reason for supporting your political view is not good because... is an ok statement.
If you believe that you suck and are retarded... is not an ok statement.

I never singled you out, not once.

How about this then: "I think it is somewhat wasteful to spend $1,000 on a toy BECAUSE you could buy like, damn, 10 Masterpiece toys with the money."?

I hope that passes muster for you.

Ok, enough. It's not that you singled me out. It's that you called anyone who spent over $300 on a figure a retard...which includes many people on this site. And arguing with a moderator about it is also a site violation.

one of the old microchange guns (1983), the colt browning that takara had in the microman line (ie the line in which megatron toy originated) did it in gold chrome as an excusive or something, theres a picture of it on page 45 of 'takara SF land'.

Hmmm....I own a lucky draw god primus- I guess Im an idiot according to some trolls- since it will be worth more (minus the cost of purchase) in 10 years than any regular MP. I understand the MPs may be more functional, etc, but compared to lucky draws they are not rare. I didnt pay 1000 for mine, not even 500, but its ok to spend 200 on a mass produced MP, right? It comes down to your preference- if it makes you happy and you have the means, buy it- dont listen to some of these guys. This thread is one of the many reasons why I wont put up lucky draw pics.

Getter, there is no reasoning with you. You want to silence anyone who thinks it is crazy to spend that much for a damned TOY.

It does not matter, you want it, you got it pal. I am deleting my account.

Enjoy your $1,000 toys, you nazi asshole.

My money could be better spent than spending 1000s on a toy. This is mainly because i have not got the disposeable income to do so. I do not feeel that anyone who does has anything wrong with them and i envy the fact that they can.

The most i have ever spent on a figure was £180s on X9 ravage. That was a big decision and that particular figure meant alot to me as it was one i had been seeking for a long time amd was a real milestone in my collection.

Yes i spent over the odds on whats essentially a £10 figure remolded but to me it was more than that and to others it is too therefore the price tag.

I cannot spend what getter can tho i dont think any less of him because he can.

A megatron painted in gold ergh pass sorry - tho there are so very few megatron lucky draw figures in comparison to the primes im never fond of the gold repaints

A thousand dollars to spend on a figure is a bit much to me. It would have to be something like Secret Starscream. But I have spent on multiple occasions $200-$300 on a single figure. I collect the Yamato Macross figures and they are quite expensive. If these things make you happy, then the money shouldnt matter.

Also YouFearGalvatron you have earned yourself a ban for your offensive comments and behavior. You can have a opinion but insulting people along with your opinion is not acceptable.

Here is a good site to see some pcis of him incase it's not the same site you found. IMO the E Hobby Ghost Starscream is way better, but Secret Starscream would be nice to have because of what he is.
