I don't know if anyone else has made this comment, but when I saw the Animated Soundwave toy and his Laserbeak guitar, I was immediately reminded of the Silverhawks character Bluegrass and his guitar Sidekick, who turned into a robotic hawk. Anyone else see this?

Dual of the guitars. My money is on Soundwave.

I think it is just coincidence, nothing more.

I think its just coincidence too.
For those that haven't heard of Silverhawks, you are either to young, or live in a country that got no cartoons during the late 80's and early 90's geez.
Try Retrojumk.com and wikipedia. for all your silverhawks information.

hey, it's a good coincidence at that. i'd think its more like a homage to the silverhawk cartoons. heh, the good ole 80's huh?
thanks for opening this up. lots of memories with this 'toon, i remember growing up watching silverhawk together with TF, M.A.S.K. (no not the green face wierdo), G.I. Joe, thundercats, he-man, etc. ahh, those were the days.
it was a pretty short-lived cartoon series though, that's why it sank to obscurity, i don't wonder why some of ya never heard of it.

We Matts think alike because I think I posted that idea back in the thread where the pics debuted.
However, do I get an extra point because I actually have the Bluegrass and Sideman toys??? Maybe a cookie?

Damn i miss silverhawks.......
I always thought they will do a silverhawks and thundercats crossover since there was a Go-Bots and Rocklords crossover movie and both the main villians have a weak form and a powerful form but i guess silverhawks was as popular like the rest of the toons.
I always wantin bluegrass space jet tho

Why the hell does a Transformer need a guitar?
Is he going to sing for us?
Why didn't they use Soundwaves gun or take his engine out to be Laserbeak
This whole idea is retarded

Silverhawks was cool, with them using the same voice cast as Thundercats and all. God damnit now I miss the 80's even more.

His guitar focuses his 'Soundwaves' as a weapon he can use.
Man you need to watch Dexter's Lab and note the Justice Friends...Valhallen

same here man, even their animation style's basically the same. only thundercats was more popular than SH, maybe that's why they didn't want to do a crossover series. i know this is kinda like off-topic, but i really loved the toys, i mean, who didn't like the metallic finish on the figures?

well, only one thing: don't knock it before you try it. hehe. let's just wait for the animated to air before we call it off eh?

QFT I to think its a homage rather then ripoff..plus I was a huge Silverhawks fan....wish someone would update them and thundercats like he-man was...only with better toy market strategy...

I know it's your opinion, but seriously lighten up a little bit won't you? I kind of like the nod to Silverhawks, and the fact that they are doing something different, but familiar with him. And truly we have no idea how he is going to be used in the show.

well of all the silly versions that bear his name....
We you rather have.....
A. him being a dumb huge Carrier that combine with Megs and soometimes call himself shockwave , tidal wave and soundwave while attacking and talking??? (Armada)
B. a missile carrier?? (Machine Wars)
C. A goofty hip hop Elvis parody that even tho he looks cool always have 2 speak with a mic (Cybertron)
D. A scion van that acturally might 4 once since G1 fit his namesake......
I pick D

Yeah, it's totally the Transformers and not Dexter's Lab. TF Animated's not going to run on Cartoon Network or anything...
...
...oh, wait.

It does look very similar- but if you think about it- SilverHawks was a rehashed Thundercats-same producers and voice actors, heck MumRaa then later MonStar. I am a fan of both, but as a kid you dont think about greedy producers. I guess thats the problem lately....lack of originality. Although, I can still hear QuickSilver yell, "Tallyhawk!!!!" and Bluegrass play his guitar.

Personaly I think it opens up world of possiblity for new line heck for all we know he could throw the guitar like a boomarang or something. Don't judge the charcter off the toy prototype.

One last note on Silverhawks, seems the first 24 episodes of Silverhawks are free and legal on the AOL video web site.
http://video.aol.com/video-category/silverhawks/2680On a related topic, we have Thundercats.

I'm with Xgamer, the SilverHawks were a total ripoff of Thundercats. Though that doesn't mean I wouldn't watch.
