Binaltech is Takara's (Japan) Altinators. The BTs unlike the Alts had die-cast car body parts, which resulted in a much meatier feeling figure, as well as generally better paint apps. Down side is that the weight on some figs make them difficult to pose, and there is always the risk on die-cast toys of the paint chipping unlike eith the plastic Alts.

Both lines also have their share of exclusives.
Takara released Tracks in both yellow and blue, Meister (Jazz) in white and red and Prowl in both a blue 'street' version and a white/black 'patrol' version.
Hasbro released Decepticharge (Windcharger repaint), Swerve (Tracks repaint), Ricochet (Silverstreak repaint), Rollbar (Swindle repaint), Mirage and Optimus Prime. As the Binaltech line is now on hiatus (more likely cancelled), these figures are only available as Alternators.

Just as Red said.
Binaltech tend to have a number of diecast parts making up the shell of the Alt mode. Take Tracks for example - most of the Corvette is made up of diecast panels, bar the rear section.
The benefits of the Binaltechs are the nice 'weighty' feel to the figures and the painted finish means that the figures look that bit more realistic. The engines of some of the figures are chromed (like Grimlocks) compared to the grey plastic alternator version.
The down side is that the painted diecast can chip so people tend to be more careful transforming them and the diecast can made posing the figures a tad more careful.
Possibly the new BT KISS range has the best balance as altough the figures are all plastic - the panels are painted giving a nice finish and decent poseability.

Nemesis Prime eHobby Exclusive will be released as a Binaltech next week.
Also, it is interesting that Ravage (Jaguar) has Hasbro & Takara copyrights molded on it. Perhaps Takara has plans of releasing it?

Yup, he will be on sale at the Winter Wonderland festival in Japan on February 24/25th. I'm sure the online retailers will follow suit right after.
