Beast Wars?

I was too young to appreciate the early 90s Transformers cartoon, but I was sucked into the world of TFs when I saw my first Beast Wars eppy. The 3-D animation amazed me as a little kid as the transforming beasts. It was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I'm sure I had tons of figs, but I can't seem to remember which ones.

I re-entered the world of Beast Wars a couple months ago when I read the Gathering. Once again, through a different medium, I was sucked back into the world of Beast Wars. That almost got me into TFs, but once I saw that the Beast Wars TF line had ended, my interest faded.

Now onto the main questions of this post: I've seen a lot of Beastie TFs in the Cybertron line. Do you guys label those as Beast Wars figs and display them like so in your collection? Also, why is Cybertron Optimus Prime such a pegwarmer everywhere? Is the Beast Wars line dead and not worth collecting? And finally, what are some good figs to start my collection off with?

Sorry for all the questions, but they have been floating around in the back of my head for the longest time. Whereas my vision of Optimus Prime has changed to the Semi-truck since the movie, my vision of Megatron is still of that bad ass T-Rex.

Thanks for the help,
SB

The fact that some figures from the Cybertron line have beast modes does not make the part of Beastwars. They are cybertron Figures with beats modes that's all. Of courtse that's in my view.

The only moulds from Cybertron I'd consider Beastwars, are the Primal and Megatron repaints of the 10th Anniversary Beastwars release.

These are totally worth owning, and should be easier to find than anything else. Beastwars is 10 year old line, you'll be very lucky to find anything at affordable prices. Well Maybe some of the 10th Anniversary re-issues.

I Particularly Like Waspinator, and Cheetor. But i must say the Takara Re-issues have the better paint apps So if you can aim for those. although they'll be a little more expensive than the Hasbro re-issues.

Paint differences on Waspinator:

Check your local Toys-R-us for the 10th anniversary Optimus Primal vs. Megatron 2 pack. I was about to pull the trigger on it, but thought it'll go on clearance anyways

Of these, I only have "Jungle Planet" Prime and Megs...and then only because I missed the 10th Anniversery(sp) ones. I actually include them with my Beast Machines figures since they have a strong techno-organic sculpting.

Also, why is Cybertron Optimus Prime such a pegwarmer everywhere?

I've wondered this myself, and can only conclude that either they made too many of him, everybody already had the 10th Primal version, or they had read a review and discovered that he's only a mediocre figure.

Is the Beast Wars line dead and not worth collecting?

Hopefully, we'll see some repaints released under the Universe title next fall; otherwise, I doubt Beast Wars will be making a comeback.

And finally, what are some good figs to start my collection off with?

It's going to be a matter of what you can find cheaply at this point. But some of my favorites include:

Transmetal Optimus Primal, Transmetal Megatron, Transmetal Tarantulas, Silverbolt, Skyshadow, Ramulus, Scourge, Dinobot, Transmetal Rattrap, Razorclaw, Quickstrike, Transmetal Cheetor.

If you can, try to hunt down the 10th anniversary figures, all 6 are top grade figures, and well worth getting, they should also be fairly cheaper than their original figures.

You can also try and track down Universe repaints of Tigerhawk and Depth Charge (but steer clear of Silverbolt).

Otherwise, you'' have to search BBTS and ebay for figures, and hope for the best.

Thanks for the comments bros!

I think I'll pick-up Cybertron Primal the next time I hit up TRU. He looks like a cool figure and what better way to start off a BW collection than with Primal?

I was looking at BBTS earlier and they had preorders up for 10th Anni figs from Japan, so I will definitely snatch a couple of them. Maybe Takara will continue to make them instead of Hasbro. I wouldn't mind paying more as long as the line kept growing.

I'm praying that some of the BW characters from the Gathering and Ascending will be made in Universe. That would definitely rock.

I think that the best two beast wars were the normal dinobot and rampage un fortunately i was unable to get neither of them but i had played with them and they are awesome.

My favorite episode was the nemesis episode even though it was two i only really count it as one though.

I used to collect them like crazy as well my nan brought me my first two i got the movie packs with razorclaw and airrazor they are what got me into it first.

I also first got into transformers by watching the beast wars and i wa once again sucked back into it.
