Ultimate Bumblebee... Really Worth It?

Got a few questions for you all about the Ultimate 08 Bumblebee.

1. Does it transform by itself?

2. Good detail and quality?

3. Must you transform it by your self?

4. All parts wired controlled or hand controlled?

and overall should I really get it? I mean $70-$80 AUS?

That would be about $30-$40-$50 in US.

They have yet to make a (good) transformer that could entirly transform by its self (and I wouldnt buy it if they did, where's the fun in letting it transform, thats the fun bit).

I dont know if anybody actully has him yet, but I know this: I will not buy him for the UK RRP of £80. No f**king way.

Well, I believe this as much as I know since I don't think anyone here has him yet.

1. Does it transform by itself? No

2. Good detail and quality? Good question

3. Must you transform it by your self? Yes

4. All parts wired controlled or hand controlled? What does hat question mean?

and overall should I really get it? I mean $70-$80 AUS?

That would be about $30-$40-$50 in US Well its 80 in the US so I'm guessing its more in AUD. Is it worth it for essentially an MP movie figure. In my books, yes, but I think thats a personal decision.

It is not a robot...

It is transformed BY HAND & is mover about by hand as well. You pose it by lifting up the arms, or moving the legs, & maybe even twisting the head. I believe it does have some electronic features, maybe including moving arms in a set pattern, I don't really know, but mainly I'd say lights & sounds.

As for detail, yes lots of detail, but none of it really accurate... Look at the images yourself. The chest is HUGE! Not much else is right with it.

Basically, in my opinion, "Ultimate" is an excuse to sell you a leader at a higher price. I personally wouldn't get it.

I think the following URLs might help you decide:

The first real review I've read by someone who actually has him

Videos by some goon who would be better off using a shot gun, but still manages to give you an idea of the transformation process

Let me know what you think after watching. Curious to see if another BB fan will buy him. I've already all but decided he's gotta be mine :-) The only real gripe I have relate to his gun arm: too short, unable to switch to a normal hand for more options, and unable to bend at the elbow. That, plus the doors on rubber strands; that is just inexcusable! I don't mind the chest so much, I can just label him BB (BB Version) Bumblebee (BodyBuilder version)

i'll be passing, there just isn't enough to warrent me spending that much. I never really cared for electronic features and as the reviewer said it does get in the way of the figure being movie accurate. I'll stick to the deluxe 08 BB when he comes out, hopefully today if they stocked the shelves.

I will end up buying Ultimate Bumbleebee but not for £80. He does looking very plain in alt mode though. Could have done with a bucket load of details thrown at it.

He can stand with Unicron and Primus.

Everything that I see on him in car mode is basically everything on the Filming model. I think his car detail is spot on with all the details. Dimpled brake rotors even (compared to the usual complete lack of), and quite nice looking brake calipers(that I shall paint red!). Blackened body slits around the rear fenders and front fascia. The Chevy emblem is even outlined correctly. Mmm mmm, I love his car details. And he's easily the most detailed Camaro Concept car I've seen in the toy isle, except my Ertl/AMT model kit, but that's a do it yourself deal and get out of it what you put into it.

In other words, he convinces me that he's a Camaro. :D

Hmm, having just looked at a photo of a real concept I can accept that. There just isnt that much detail on the real thing, its quite smooth isnt it.

Maybe I am just wishing for a better paint finish. A painted surface would impove Bumbleebee no end.

Its not that I dont like it, you understand.

What we have here is another yellow monstrosity that reminds me of the hype surrounding his predecessor:

Biggest Transformer ever built!

BM Supreme CHEEEAAATTOOOR!

This BB can stand next to him ... right beside the toilet :)

some ignorant folks sorry for the term are rushing to my local toyshop reserving like 2 or 3 of this robot... :-?

Some people just don't like large toys. Worth it for people who like a robot friend beside him to talk to. In scale for kids who like to be Optimus Prime/Megatron/Starscream/Blackout etc

I pre-ordered at a good deal way early from Amazon.com, but won't start shipping until Sept-15 *sigh, balled & chained* This UBB will become one of the hottest TF toys for this holiday season, that's my guess.

Yeah, the real thing is sleak, but design is interpretive and some may not like it. That's cool, but I love it. :D

It'd be cool though like you mention if it had one hell of a paint job, like automotive grade depth and clear coat. Oh yeah, that'll be on the to do list for me and my airbrush someday.

His alt mode looks very nice, but I actually don't like his robot mode too much. I will probably not even consider it for that price...but we'll see. :)

EDIT: After seeing those videos...the transformation doesn't look fun and his voice sounds kind of lame, I might just pass then.
