I have had 0 problems with either of mine so far. But I could see MP-5 being more fragile. His limbs are thinner and his joints are tighter. They are more like pieces of art to me and don't get transformed often, and when they are it is very carefully. So take from that what you will.

After reading the review and threads of horror stories of MP-05 I have not even attempted to transform him. He is better in bot mode anyway unless you are considering robbing a place. MP-03 was transformed and I found it tight but doable. I have heard horror stories with him too. Hopefully Tak/Tomy will make changes on the upcoming MP-06 Skywarp and add more die-cast to make it more durable. I have heard rumours noting this fact.

Yup, Megatron is definitely the more fragile and less stable of the two, but as serious collector'r pieces, they are both definitely worth it. However, you may want to wait and get the Walmart exclusive Starscream, as it is G1-accurate color instead of the darker one. I personally don't mind MP-03's colors.

if you had the money and can only choose one, which would it be? megatron or starscream?

I personally think Starscream is cooler, because I like his jet mode and I've always thought he was a more interesting character. MP-03 is smaller than MP-05, but he comes with a nice display stand, and is very well detailed and impressive.

You also won't have any problems importing if it turns into a jet rather than a gun.

Wait and get the Wal-Mart exclusive G1 repaint of MP Starscream.

MP Megatron is beautiful...but poorly made and designed. (See my thread about the floppy arm for one!)

Don't get Megatron if you intend on having a whole lot of hands on time with him.

For me, Megatron. Hands down. There is nothing like having a cartoon accurate (or as close as you're going to get) G1 Megatron.

The rapid-fire questioning in this topic makes me feel like I'm observing a test marketing survey.

Anyway, Megatron looks like one of those toys where you might actually consider bringing a screwdriver with you into the transformation process.

the original g1 toy line had optimus prime reveal both wheels around the waist. now the masterpiece one are completely hidden. the g1 megatron had its gun barrel down the crotch area and the masterpiece version had the gun barrel up the shoulder.
my question is why can't they make the toys back then with cartoon accuracy like prime without its wheels reveal or without barrel of a gun down the crotch area of megatron.

They look good in appearance ,but you can't transform them cause the plastic they are made of is weak ,and can stress or break even at the first try. They are not worth investing on unless you like posing them only.

The answer to your question is simple:

They didn't have the cartoon version "back then" - the toys were designed looong before the cartoon version came along - so nobody KNEW that Optimus' wheels were supposed to be hidden or that Megatron's trigger shouldn't be on his crotch...

In fact- nobody knew that they were designing Optimus Prime and Megatron.

I have both, but if I could only have one, it would be Megatron. I don't transform either of them regularly (back and forth once each). However, I feel Megatron looks much better. He's a taller figure and his colours are good. I'm really disappointed in the colours of Starscream. Although the Walmart exclusive coming out looks kind of cool and might be worth a look.
