Beast Wars question.

Ok, I currently dont have any BW toys in my collection and I would like to make a shelf for them. So what are the BW toys to get? I think I'll pick up the Primal/Megs pack from TRU but what else should I get?

I'd say that 99% of the toys were great, so it depends on what you like. The Optimal Optimus is an awesome toy.

My personal favs were Rampage and Depth Charge, TM Megatron, TM2 Dinobot, and TM2 Scourge and Manterror

How fortunate for you. The recent re-releases of the BW toys are much better than the originals IMO. Better likenesses and whatnot.

Definately get those anniversary figs. The Transfmetal figs are great too. Megs, surfer monkey Optimus PW3NZ, Cheetor, Rattrap, Tarantulas, Rampage, Depth Charge...etc..

the transmetals were great! Very show accurate poseable and look great displayed - just watch out for the vaccuumised parts chipping. The show cast of beast wars had some great figures perhaps the best in the line some of the non-show characters however can be a bit of an acquired taste.

For two great figures try the two Japanese maximal leaders leo convoy and big convoy.

TM2 megatron is a personal favorite when displayed in alt mode

THere are some fantastic nonshow characters, some of which are now in the new idw Beast Wars comics-read the gathering and i bet ull want half the cast by the time u are finished-and they are all great!

Also pick up the combiners, tripredicus adn Mangaboss are amazing, particularly magnaboss

Also checkout the seibertron galleries and decide for urself!

Rampage and Depth Charge!! Man those two characters were like the badest battles you could ever see.. It was like they had this huge history, die tragically killing each other.. and on top of that cool ass story from the Cartoon.. their toys are top freaking Notch as well.. I just hope Takara Tomy's 25TH Anniversary series includes them and not alot of others they have thrown in like Bolfang, though he is cool!! But to see them do a Rampage and Depthcharge in repainted show accurate and highly detailed colors the way they did Prime, and everyone else to date......AHHHH..... that would be a Converted Beast Wars Fan's Wet Dream!!!

I am actually obsessed with wanting to get those guys!! Depth Charge, the Prison guard and cop... Rampage the experimental criminal psycho that must be stopped at the cost of their own lives!! it's priceless, and their bots and alts are freakin Sweet!!!

The Takara BWR boxset is gorgeous, I recommend it to anyone who digs BW.

Optimus especially really looks 100 % cartoon accurate with the remolding of his face, chest etc.

Beautiful collectors case as well.

Bloody oath, got the Japanese releases just because they are show characters, but the figs are awesome and huge! and cheap for brand new, bless those Japanese re-releases.

I started by getting the 1st season show characters. My lineup:

Takara Prime vs Megatron 2 pack (like the TRU release)
Waspinator reissue (2007 Japanese is best)
Terrorsaur (original, not reissued)
Scorponok (original, not reissued)
Tarantulas (Hasbro reissue)
Blackarachnia (2007 Japanese reissue)
Rattrap (original, not reissued)
Dinobot (I prefer the Hasbro reissue)
Rhinox (Hasbro reissue)
Cheetor (Japanese reissue)
Airazor (original, not reissued)
Tigatron (Japanese original, it is white instead of cream. They just released a Japanese reissue but I will settle for what I have).

I later branched out and all of the other show characters. The only one I do not have is Tigerhawk, although I will someday remedy that.

Although I like all of them, out of the later releases I strongly recommend Japanese X9 Ravage, TM Megatron, TM Tarantulas, TM Rampage, and TM Depthcharge.

Many like Optimal Optimus but he is my least favorite (although I like the character).

must haves...

The prize members of my BW collection are Transmetal Megatron (red dragon) and Transmetal Black Arachnia... Silverbolt is also a cool toy in both modes.

Which beast wars toys to get?

In the immortal words of Arnold Schwarzennegger:

"ALL."

Seriously - and start with the warehouse Japanese BWII and Neo find at BBTS - add to that the Japanese reissue Convoy/Megtron set for show-accurate leaders and buy buy buy.

The Beast Wars line is kind of like Cybertron - very hard to find unsatisfactory characters.

My personal favs are Rampage, Tm Megs (trex), the original Primal mold, though you are getting a superior version in teh 2 pack set as long as it is the japanese set and not Hasbro's, and TM waspinator. When I was younger and actually played with them instead of just displayed them, I said he got his jet mode when Starscream possessed him.

I highly recommend Airazor, Transmetal Tarantulas, Inferno, Rampage, Tigerhawk, and TM2 Dragon Megatron as far as show figs that haven't been reissued.

Other recommendations are Magmatron, Magnaboss, and Tripredicus.

TM 2 Megatron is the be all and end all of the Beast Lines.

Any Optimal toys are also worth their weight in gold, as they are all great figures (bar the 10th anniversary one).

Others to look out for are :
TM Cheetor, TM Tarantulas, TM Waspinator, Waspinator, Rampage, Depth Charge, Terrorsaur, Quickstrike, Airrazor, TM Megatron, TM2 Dinobot.

You cant go wrong with the beasties, not even the non show characters like Optimus Minor, Scarem etc etc.

Yes I love them way too much!!

What is soo coool about Depthcharge is that he's a manta ray in Altmode, and a Freaking awesome 50s looking Bot in robot Mode.. with his shinny and pointy chest points and chest grill like a 57 Chevy or some other classic and cool car from that era..Buy Depth charge, watch Beast Wars on Youtube.com, and be happy!!!

I can't truly be happy till the Takara 25th Anniversary reissues of Beast Wars includes depthcharge repainted to show accuracy.. :D

Get Cheetor at the very least, great figure all around.
I would consider a couple beast wars neo figs, Big Convoy, Heinlad, Magmatron, okay three.
Check out seibertron's beast wars galleries.
Seibertron's galleries have forced me to pick up quite a few Transformers that I probably wouldn't have given a second thought to owning.

PolarClaw (Polar Bear) rocks hard, to bad mine is yellowing :(
Skyshadow (Dragon Fly/Lizard Fuzor) is very cool, as is Buzzclaw (Praying mantis/Lizard Fuzor) albeit he don't look like a fuzor.

Injector is pretty cool even if he was one hell of a shelf warmer, hell you could probably find him in stores still :D

Razorbeast and any flip-formers are cool.

guys, a few questions:

1.) what do you think of BW rattrap, the original one? is he worth getting? i'm looking at him not only in terms of collectibility, but also of playability. i want to know if there are any issues with this toy.

2.) b'boom, any thoughts?

thanks. looking to build up my BW collection. 8)

Both really good.
I don't have rattrap but I've always wanted him. He really looks like a good figure.

B'boom. Hell yes. His alt mode is nicely detailed, though with limited posability & though his transformation is fiddly his robot mode is great, if you can keep it together.
