I know they are have toys that have never lived up to the hype and fanfare that got before they were released. So I thought I would throw this question out there see what people think are figure that were over hyped.

Though I don't hate him, per say, Titanium Soundwave really was a let down. Now that was a figure we were all really looking forward to until he was taken out of the package.

Even more of a let down was Classics Devastator. When I first heard about it, I assumed it would be a new mold and would be awesome like the rest of the Classics. Alas, we got a repaiont of a crappy Energon combiner. I'm still sore about that one. I am generally a big Hasbro supporter, but not with this one.

the WHOLE armada toy line! even the ones that looked cool in pictures were nothing more than a huge letdown when you bought them. The whole pokemon minicon idea was a horrible horrible idea, and i hope someone seriously got fired over it, and I hope that animation company that made the god awful cartoon is out of business... but anyway back to the topic. They touted like the minicons were going to be able to unlock all kinds of special features, and there would be so many you wouldn't discover any for years! and then you buy the toy and find, "woa a missle launcher" and thats about it, and to make it worse you find the toys have piss poor simple transformations and virtually no articulation. Toys so bad that they made G1 look like the Masterpiece and alternators series!

I remember when Armada was anounced they threw out names from G1-Beast Wars and at that point in time thought were we getting that combo of the characters together.

I remember the Armada hype too. There were sites made just for it and everything. Myth was that RID was just a quick fix import of a japanese toyline and TV show and that Mainframe was going to be bringing us Transformers Armada in full CGI, and it was supposed to fill the gap between G1 and Beast Wars. I was really pumped for it, and then they showed off the toys... and I remember seeing hot shot and I almost puked.

Beast Machines was a bit of a letdown. Although, I only bought one toy, and that was the Mega Cheetor. Horrible, horrible toy.

lol yeah the beast machines toyline wasn't great at all. The best toy in the line didn't come out untill RID was out: Supreme Optimus Primal

It's been a good long time since I bought a TF figure that I think is a complete lemon. That changed when I opened and transformed Movie Voyager Starscream. I don't really know what I was expecting. My friend had bought him and I thought he looked cool. Saw the movie 3 times and really liked him in it. Then I bought the guy for myself. Really, the first TF I've gotten in years that I think I actually hate. I can't say he's terrible as I know there are others that simply adore this figure. He does absolutely nothing for me though.

My vote is with Beast Machines. That was a pretty crappy toy line overall. There were some nice moulds in Armada. Wheeljack comes to mind.

I don't have a lot of figures from Beast Machines, but I think there were some pretty cool ones, particularly Battle Unicorn. Poor name, awsome alt. and robot mode, and it's only a basic!

For me, Big Convoy. I had read hype on reviews of the figure proclaiming it "the best beast figure ever!", so when the Universe Nemesis version came out, I bought it soon as I saw it in stores. It's all right, but it's more or less a "meh" for me. Maybe it's the colors, but it's mostly because the alt. mode isn't incorperated into the robot mode. The pieces just kind of hang off of the arms and legs, and the transformation is very poor.

unicron wasnt that great. he's a big size but has no "wow" features.... he's just big....
.... also, i agree with cormaster, the minicons wasnt a great idea. and they look dumb when you stick them on your figures, it doesnt help with making the figures look cool.

I've a feeling when Concept BB's flood the shelves and everyone gets their hands on one, we'll all be "meh, it's a good figure, but I wasted all this gas, time, and money for this?"

Armada made for a good PS2 game though.

I only have one Beast Machines figure and that is Blackaracnia (still packaged) so I cannot comment on them. However, from looking at the characters in the show and the toys released I think it is clear the somebody didnt pay much attention.

You shouldnt really have any complaints about 08 bumblebee. He beats pretty much any deluxe figure in the movie toy line I think. We got lucky with that figure.

But i'd have to say my biggest dissapoint was movie jazz. if he was like 08 bumblebee, i'd cry.

of course he didnt receive a huge amount of hype..

so i guess i'd have to go with movie megatron

though tit soundwave was a let down as well, somewhat.

MP Starscream. Opened him, transformed him nce, and put him away.

Of my collection...

Supreme Starscream (the only one I can think of...) He is big, like a blow up of the Galaxy Force (voyager) sized one. Although he has lights and sounds, a big shooty weapon and crown, he lacks in details that I would have sort of expected to have on something that sized. I like details, that's my thing.

The figures that lived up to their expectations-exceeded it are MP-03 Starscream... just incredible and Attacktix. Why attacktix? The missile shoots over 10 feet! That's just wild.

Though I never owned the toy I hear energon Megatron was a let down. had an awesome galvatron appearance but those who owned him said his transformation was very simple, and he wasn't very articulate in robot mode. I originally intended on picking him up, but I went ahead and passed.

I hope someday we ever get a good galvatron figure.

Alternators Sideswipe. Crappy plastic, and one of the doors snapped off within 2 days of having him. Almost put me off the line, until I grabbed Tracks and Jazz. But nah, no more Alternators for me, they're a bit expensive.

Titianium Soundwave is truely terrible, but he dosnt really count for this thread, cuase almost imeadiatly we all knew he was a lemon, and we all still bought him. Because we are weak.

Still dosnt matter now, I have MP3 Soundwave standing on the titainum soundwave stand now instead. :P

A REAL let down for me was classics Astrotrain. When we all first saw it, we all went 'WOW, who alwsome is that!', we all saw the train mode, but decided to ignore that. Well then I bought it. Yeah, apart from the train mode, there isnt anything really wrong with him. He's just not that good. (Mind, classics Starscream is hardly a looker compaired to some of the later classics seekers.)

I have 08 BB and he is INCREDIBLE. Definitely worth some hunting.

In answer to this thread, my biggest disappointment in recent years was Energon Sharkticon. The initial pictures made him seem alot cooler than he really was.
