How long can today's transformers toys last before they break down or turn yellow?

Maybe a silly question. But I am just wondering when will these toys turn yellow etc?

Supposed they are displayed normally. I think they will have a life expectancy of 15 years then something obvious will happen to them?

Depends how often you play with them. If you just pose them ocassionally I think they will last for at least 2 decades. the plastic will get weaker but you can paint over the wear. Just take care of them and they will love you back.

All Plastics break down. There are some things that speed up the process i.e. Exposure to direct sunlight or UV light, smoking, and exposure to chemicals do the most imediate damage. Also, heat may effect the chemical compound that makes uop the plastic.

Depending on how good the plastic is, it may last a couple of years or several decades. However, after several centuries, they will all be yellow. Luckuly, I'll be dead and gone by then.

I've got vintage figures with no signs of age at all. It all depends on how you care for your stuff.

The original G1 figures were made of far superior plastic and better built. They will last longer than the sun :P

This is the most silly comment I've heard in a long time. Let me tell you, today's toys are most likely going to be more durable over time because they HAVE to be by law. We didn't have toy safety laws back in the day. Many G1 figures were brittle when new and can and do break into pretty jagged pieces. To make such a blind statement makes you silly man. Toys will last forever if you take care of them correctly. Nevermind when they were made.

It was meant to be a silly comment. Hence the :P after the comment :P. Especially when the sun would be the plastic's worst enemy. Peace out.

Now everyone is being silly.

Yeah smoking is bad for your figures. If you are going to smoke do it elsewhere. Otherwise, they will prematurely turn yellow, like your teeth, fingers and lungs.

Actually, even niccotine residue from your fingers can do be adverse to the toys (moreso when they are white or grey).
