Toyfare's latest issue *SPOILERS*

They have a count down of their opinion of the 100 best toys made in I think maybe the last decade or so. Anyway, I just glanced through it but saw ML Soundwave and MP Megatron somewhat high in the list. However, the #1 toy according to Toyfare was Masterpiece Optimus Prime!

I apologize if this has been posted already. I thought it was really cool. MP Prime is one of my favorite toys, and though their list is definitely a bit iffy (any "definitive" list based on opinions will be), they have a pretty solid line up of toys which makes it far cooler that Optimus is #1.

TF Fans rejoice! Or something.

good point. however, why is it that they say masterpiece prime is not a toy, but the american 20th anniversary prime is a toy.

Transformers aren't merely toys, they are sophisticated designs of engineering.

Stupid toyfare...

Probably the price and quality.
I know I got one of my anniversary Primes for only 25 bucks
at Walmart. My 6 year old got that one and she plays with it.
Definitely a toy.
No way would I give her anything that cost 100 bucks, maybe a bike, to just play with. At least the parts are big enough you can tell what they are when you find them lying around the house so you can get Ratchet do do a kwik repair job.

And sir, it is American(A not a). A broadcaster such as yourself should know that. :)

I doubt there are many toys that are designed and produced with such quality as the MP Prime figure.

A worthy #1.

It's a countdown of 100 figures. It obviously starts with 100, and goes to #1. If you like the suspense then it's a spoiler. Technically the issue isn't even out in stores yet, so I didn't want to ruin it for anyone. Just playing it safe.

Awesome news regarding MP-01. Well deserved in my mind. Best designed toy of all time indeed! If BW Neo Unicron was made it would have been a close second.

The Takara owned Transformers line in Japan was gearing up to produce a Unicron toy for its 1998 Beast Wars Neo line! But it, like it's G1 counterpart in the mid 80's, was never produced. A prototype was exhibited at the Tokyo Toy Fare. I would give my right arm for this figure. Judge for yourself:

QFT! Feel like a kid sometimes that just does not get what he wants no matter how much he asks for it. That puppy is just a thing of beauty.

They're the exact same toy buddy, save for MORE paint apps on the Hasbro version and shorter smokestacks. Quality is exactly the same.

One is plastic and one has die-cast... personally I see the MP version to be of higher quality due to its construction.

There IS Die-Cast in the Hasbro release! What are you talking about? Unless if you're referring to the new one that came out at the time of Classics, with the crappy talking base...

Forget MP Prime and company... I'm all about that Unicron prototype. I bet some kitbasher (if he/she hasn't already) could do something comparable with the Cybertron Unicron, though. He'd be a tiny planet, but still...

Actually I am glad they didn't center on Cybertron prime being the best ever.. though he is in my mind..regardless of Masterpiece, whose a great collector's item, but the best toy.. is certainly Cybertron Prime!!

that prototype unicron would have been better then the Armada/energon version... simply because it was based on the beast Wars Neo Unicron, who was hailed as the baddest villain in all the universe.. and because he was the Beast Wars neo Unicron he was also in Japanese canon, the original Unicorn as well..

I wish that unicron was made, When i heard that there was going to be a unicron made i thought it was this one. Nope we get stuck with the crap Armada one. Yeha its a cool figure but that proto type looks 100 times better. Its cool that MP Prime is first but the MPs/anniversary figures along with the alternators are not toys. They are collection pieces. A toy is something that you can play with when ever you want and not be afraid to break it. Plus real toys dont cost $50-$100.

I agree, but the only thing about BWNEO Unicron that I would miss that Aramda Unicron had was articulated hands & fingers. Still, this would've been one awesome toy to have in my possession. Oh well.

Talk about being uninformed. For how many years the mold has been out now, 2, 3? You'd think would know better by now. Both toys share the same materials in the exact same spots, die-cast included.

Nope, that one is the same as well, just different/uglier paint job.
