Beast Wars pt 2?

Okay, so I started a thread last week about getting into collecting Beast Wars TFs but my interest waned when I got Jetfire in the mail. Today I was surfing youtube and caught some BW episodes and man am I ever hooked on Beast Wars again. If you haven't seen it already search for 'Code of a Hero' and watch it. Amazing eppy.

So onto the questions now. Are the Takara BWs worth the $20 + dollars to get them? I was looking at Cheetor and Rhinox on hlj and they look pretty sweet, but are they worth $20 for a deluxe? Also, I've seen some Takara 2-Packs on BBTS, are both figs in those packs deluxe? And are the figs same as their single relases?

Anyway, to further inspire me to collect this line, tell us about your favorite BW toy, show us some pics of your BW collection or drop some memories about the show.

Basically, just show Beast Wars some love. If we do, maybe Hasbro will throw a couple of reissues our way :) :) :)

Are you talking about the "normal" versions or the Transmetal versions? Also, Hasbro just re-released Cheetor and Rhinox as part of the Beast Wars 10th Anniversary. Either way, $20 twice the retail price, but actually fairly cheap from an online source.

As for the love, Beast Wars is by far my favorite TF show. Mere words cannot describe its awesomeness.

So true. I'm watching some random episodes on youtube right now and it makes me want to go about and buy all three seasons on DVD. That will be my job this weekend :)

I can find most of the Hasbro 20ths for $10 and the Takara re-issues for $20. Is there a difference in quality?

I only have the Rhinox 10th, and it seems as solid as the old mold. The arms are assembled backwards however. Nothing a screwdriver can't fix.

As for the others, I've heard that the molds have held up well, but I don't have any first hand experience with them.

Hmmm, was that just a defect in yours or in all of them?

Yeah the whole Anniversary line looks like a great set of toys. I think I'm going to go order Primal off Amazon right now.

Does anyone know when the first issue of Ascending is supposed to come out? I'm super hyped for it after reading the Gathering not too long ago.

I have first hand experience with the Takara Reissues, and I'm gonna tell ya right now, they are simply the best renditions of those Beast Wars characters Made to date..Their molds may have been modified to correct certain initial mistakes when they were originally released, and they have the most cartoon accurate paint applications ever!! They come with a Japanese DVD of Beast Wars, but hey, thats okay, I own the complete Beast Wars Season..20.00 is the perfect price for them... any more then that is excessive!!!

BW had some of the best one-liners of any TF series. Best plot lines and storyboards. The toys though did not meet expectations. I believe because animals just don't fly with most TF collectors. Most want to see vehicles and the like. Similarly, that whole animorph TF attempt was a complete failure.

I am very glad to hear that. I have only found Takara 20th Primal for $29.99, but I am going to pay that because it is simply the best damn Primal I've ever seen.

I don't mind a Jap version of the DVD because I plan to own all three seasons and the Jap versions will just be extra collector's items.

Whats your favorite from the series, skywarp-2?

I grew up on Beast Wars. That was my vision of Transformers when I was kid and to an extent, still is. The show was revolutionary in its time and it blows away any other TF cartoon easily.

To the collectors who dislike Beast Wars, I don't think beasts are out of the realm of possibility for TFs. I mean, they are robots in disguise right? So why is there all this dislike for them?

I think the BW toys are top notch myself. Beast Machines on the other hand...well yeah. But beast wars TFs kick ass. And I think BW Megatron would kick TF Megatron's ass anyday.

yes, beast wars has to be one of the best tf cartoons ever, had classic momments and episodes like dinobot's death, prime and primal eye contact moment, ravage, so many. as to the question i think 20$ is an alright deal.

I watched Dinobot's death last night on Youtube and even tho I knew it was coming it still almost brought me to tears. Damn good episode. Not just for Beast Wars but for any animated cartoon.

lol, but seriously that is one crazy cool collection you have there. Whats your favorite and do you have any loose?

Do you plan on picking up any of the 20ths?

I grew up on this series. I remember bothering my folks every two weeks to take me to TRU to pick me up an Airrazor (It was never in/released for a long time.)

I dug up some of the old toys, I'm glad I have found them but I cant find most of their weapons!! I wish I had bought more as a kid, but now we cannot find them anywhere anymore.

Picked up the DVDs and the show was just as good as I remember it.

I'm catching up on some episodes on youtube, but I have plans to buy all three seasons on DVD.

Do you have any plans on picking up the 20th BW figs?

And are you a Maximal or Predacon fan?

The first season is the most expensive, the other two are reasonably priced. I think its more enjoyable to watch them on dvd than on youtube sometimes. Plus the boxes are Shiny!

I would if I can find them, I can't even think of a store that might have them now. I'd like to get some of the old ones that havent gotten a re-release yet but that seems unlikely.

And are you a Maximal or Predacon fan?

I kind of like them both actually, but I mostly have Maximal figures so far (Normal Tigertron, Airrazor, TM Airrazor, Normal Rattrap, TM Rattrap, Silverbolt missing bolts  ,a few random ones and waspinator I think.) If that answers your question.

I totally want to pick up a TM Black Arachnia (for poor Silverbolt), TM Tarantulas, Dinobot, Cheetor (all flavors), Rampage, an a few others. Sigh, my brother's friend use to have all of the show figures. I am so glad I didnt sell my Tigertron to him now hehe :D

I'm definitely more of a Maximal fan myself. Right now I'm working on planning the perfect Maximal team. I just ordered the Takara 20th Optimus Primal off of Toywiz and man what a beautiful figure it looks like. I can't wait to have it.

I think I like the first season the best because its before everything got so crazy with the transmetals and fuzors and all (althought I'm growing to like both).

I'm a big fan of Silverbolt. Do you have the fuzor version of him? I was just looking at him on eBay. Is the figure worth tracking down? Since it is 11 years old I don't want it to look inferior next to my 20ths.

If you have any pics of your BW collection, I'd love to see them. It sounds like you have a pretty good collection so far. Since I'll only be able to buy them online, I'm going to collect slowly. I have no idea who I'm going to buy next after Primal arrives, probably either Megatron (in BW he is so bad ass) or Silverbolt.

Yes, I have the Fuzor version (I keep forgetting that there's another version hehe.) He is mostly show accurate. My only nit pick is that the place where his front legs join don't stay in very good in beast mode. Fiddling with his tail makes him shoot his missles out of his wings (Which are missing and probably left this world .) Paint wise I'm not sure how he'd compare.

I'll post pictures tomorrow sorry, its very late. I hope you can wait till then. 8)

I'll try my best to wait till then, lol. Do you like Silverbolt tho? I just want him to fit in with the newer re-issues thats all. Hah, I just got done part 1 of Coming of the Fuzors. Damn is that one hell of an ending. Can't wait to watch part 2 tomorrow and see how Silverbolt changes sides. Man he is awesome.

Just finished watching Coming of the Fuzors part 2 and damn what an awesome episode that was. The Western feel of the both parts made it hella good. And plus Dinobot riding on Rattrap > everything else. If you haven't seen this eppy, go watch it on Youtube.

Anyway, to anyone who has any of the old BW figs and the new 20ths - do they fit it and display well together? Or do they look too different?

dude, MAXIMAL forever. 8) dinobot is one of the most complex transformers ever to see animation time. and Optimus Primal (season 1) is a GREAT take on the OP continuity - the best prime after G1, flawed, commanding, yet kind and with a good sense of humor.

i also have the whole season 1 on DVD. :-P

anyways, since this is the toys forum, i also won a 10th anniversary primal + megs on eBay, can't wait to finally lay my hands on them...have to pay for it though yet. darn credit card limits. LOLz.

Maximals are indeed awesome, my friend. They are always kicking ass and taking names of all the Predacons. After seeing Code of a Hero, I love Dinobot. I also love Silverbolt...and Primal of course...and Rattrap...and Rhinox...ok so I love pretty much all the Maximals.

Season 1 Primal is the most awesome looking bot mode of all the BW TFs. I hate his transmetal mode with a passion. His original so awesome. And your right, Primal is such a great character too. You can litterally watch him evolve into a great leader throughout the seasons.

I'm going to hit up Best Buy tomorrow and get either season 1 or season 2. I'd much rather watch them on DVD than on Youtube. Do the seasons have any good extras?

Congrats on the eBay win. That 2-pack is fantastic looking, especially the black Primal. How much did that run ya?

I ordered the Takara 20th Primal last night from toywiz for $30. Should be here soon and I'm psyched.

They seriously need to bring back Beast Wars.

Phenomenal pics, bro!

Silverbolt and metals Rattrap look awesome. I'm not all into metals but I might have to track him down. Silverbolt I am so finding and buying. Tigertron looks eh. I still sorta like him tho.

Is that a metals Airrazor? Not a big fan. Who is the brown BW?

Thanks for the pics my friend. Even tho they are ten years old they still look great. Just seeing those pics makes me want to collect BW TFs anymore. Thank you for the inspiration.

And nice DVDs too, lol. Nice of you to throw them in there :)

Takara 20th Primal is on his way. I want to pick up either Silverbolt, Takara Megatron or Magmatron next. I'm going to split up the Preds into two teams led by Mega and Magma. The show BWs to be led by Mega and the non-show by Magma.

Does anyone have Magmatron? He looks very very cool.
