Wow, I can't believe I missed Alternators line!

Over all I'm pretty new to collecting Transformers. Well, I did collect some Beast Wars toys way back when but I was like 11 and didn't really take care of them. I searched and found alot of my old toys are missing pieces and whatnot. Poor cheetor is missing a whole arm and Gut gun.

Well in any case, the Movie has got m collecting again and as I peruse forums and the Transformers Wiki, I'm really kinda sad that I totally missed out on the Alternators line. I like realistic alt-modes (hence why I like the Movie toys) and you don't get much more realistic than that. Looking at the wiki reveals that their future is kinda bleak, so aside from paying premium eBay prices, Alternators are lost to me :-( .

Yeah unfortunately it looks like the line is done for as of SDCC Rodimus. If you can pay the cash there are tons of them available on eBay. I highly recommend Grimlock, Jazz, Mirage, Ravage and Dead End.

Alternators was awesome. Even when I was 10 I knew it was something. That's when I picked up my first Alternator- Smokescreen. After that, there was huge hiatus of Collecting transformers for me. I mean the whole Robots in Disguise/Armada/Energon/Cybertron look of the robots turned me off, but when the movie toys came out, I was back to collecting. Just today I received my Rodimus, and bought my self a Skids from the Disney Hasbro store, and they look stunning. I regret not being able to collect alot of the Alternators, but from what I got so far, they were awesome

Anybody got an extra Alternator

Alternators are selling for high prices on ebay. I wouldn't pay the high prices for some of them though. A couple affordable ones I would recommend are Jazz, Tracks, Silverstreak, Rumble, and Ravage. Those are some of my favorites.

What was the MSRP on them anyway?

The annoying thing is I just missed Ravage and Rumble, as they were exclusives just earlier this year. And looking at the line, they would probably be two of my most wanted ones.

As I'm getting into the Transformers toy collecting community, it definitely seems like this is a hobby where you have to act quick and jump on deals as soon as possible as things only last for a short time and the price appreciates pretty quickly.[/i]

I believe MSRP on them was $19.99. As for Rumble and Ravage you can still find them in Wal-Marts but probably not for much longer. I saw four Rumbles last week but they've all sold out now.

I knew the Alternators were going to be cool when they first debuted. I have every figure except Rollbar, Ricochet, Nemesis Prime, Rumble and Ravage 2.0. I am hoping to be able to afford Nemmesis Prime at some point then my collection will be complete in my book. :P

LOL, you know the funny thing is aside from Ricochet which I got to flesh out the Decepticon side (despite his symbol indicating other wise) I'm missing exactly the same ones Ultra Prime. Well and I didn't get Hotrod. But convention exclusives frequently elude me.

I could get Rollbar to this day Fry's Electronics still has a few laying about. I suppose Rumble a Frenzy should be added even though I hat Rumbles design. Could always use more cons though. That would leave me only short the two con exclusives. Not bad at all considerign the only one I ever resorted to picking up online so far was Mirage. I even found a Red box Tracks and Miester on a store shelf. Good times good times.

I thought about Rumble & Ravage but decided that I didn't care for Rumble's design. And I figure that if Rumble and Ravage have not shown up in my area by now they never will. I forgot that I'd like to get Camshaft too

Well, for those of you wishing to get in on the Alternators line, get out there and get what you can find now. None of these in the line are going to depreciate in value. I remember when this line was in its first waves, certain figures were shelf warmers even then, but now are just as sought after as the rest. Wheeljack, Windcharger, Swindle were all plentiful on shelves for about a year long period (Southern California), now nowhere to be found, and all fetch far more than I paid for them from the store (I have all 27).

There is not really a bad mold here. Even though you might be continuously seeing Rollbar everywhere, it's still a great mold, and unless you pay, you'll probably never find Swindle or Hound, so go ahead and grab it. You will be happy. If there is one you really regret missing out on, just save a little extra money for an extra month or so, you'll be able to put that extra bit down on getting the one you want. Just $15 a month aside for 3 months, you'll be able to get pretty much any figure from the line. Even though many people are weary, use Ebay. Once you get the figure, all will be good. After a while, you won't even realize that you dropped $50 for Dead End or what ever. No one has really missed out on anything yet, just be patient and smart, you'll get what you want. :)

Man even the Loose alternators are going for high prices. Appearantly plenty of people are taking advantage of this laps of Movie toys to fill in their collection. I display my stuff out of box anyway so I'd prefer Loose complete, but the price they're fetching is right up there with the boxed ones.

you wanna get alternators?
look into the carbombya section on this forum.
i've got more than a few in great condition that i have used to bash.
but you could easily get quite a few for around 10-15 bucks.
that's the most i've ever had to pay for any on here.
but yea,
you missed the boat on that line unfortunatly

imho:
check that section frequently, 5pm they may not have any, but at 6pm someone could put some up and they are gone quickly.
notice.. someone sold ravage and rumble this morning on one post for 30 bucks.
it can be a little rough, but if you want a alt collection, this is the best forum to find them the cheapest. just be patient, like all things tf i guess
the amount of work i did to build my alt collection could have been cut in half if i would have been patient and bought them used, etc..
however, get alt rodimus while he is still somewhat cheap. you can pick him up for @ 50 on ebay and the sort. he will not get any cheaper.
case in point:
alt nemesis prime went through the same ordeal last year being an exclusive, and now goes for 80-90 bucks.
just some advice

Yeah i noticed that $30 Ravage Rumble combo when I posted my new thread there. Thing is I'm not really interested in Alternators Rodimus. Heck I'm not even that interested in Alternators Prime. I've got to be really picky with what toys I really want to get or else my collecting will go out of control, and I've still got other things I collect.

I've got 3 Alternators, Rodimus, Ravage, and Rumble, now with a 4th, Sunstreaker, on the way and I love them.

I spent the most on Ravage but he was only $30 shipped so I can't really complain.

I got lucky with Rumble and found him while Walmart was using this opportunity to get rid of all their overstocked TFs. I'm not crazy about his design but I couldn't pass up having the Ravage and Rumble combo.

Next on my list is Shockblast and I'm going to have to fight my impulsive behavior and be patient with him and every Alternator from here on out.

Did I mention that I love these guys?

Most of us missed out on the Alternators, mainly down to availability.

I hear Yanks saying all the time how they kept finding ones that will never see our shores.

It annoys and upsets me. Now, International collectors like us will have to pay a premium to get the Alternators.

Carbomya is useful, but inconsistent. I have rarely seen Alts I am after on there.

Do your best, and take it slow. If and when you have the money, go straight on the net and find the best price you can for the alt(s) you want, and buy them straight away.

Really feel for you. It was a great line alongside the JPN die-case Alt versions as the BT line.

Don't feel to bad. There were several that short of the second releases in the fishbowl many would never have found. I really lucked out finding red box Tracks and Miester both on the same day. I literally almost walked right past them too.

I went in the aisle walked to where the alts were didn't see anything new and turned to leave and did a double take as I noticed the two of them shifted about 3 feet from where the rest were. Fortunately for me I had exactly enough money set aside for the two of them and nothing else.

So with this new influx previous lines to stores has anyone found a good amount of Alternators?

This is why I keep new pictures of my collection to myself. That and they're all still boxed up. Still, here's an old image (or two) of mine.

Edit: I like how Counterpunch keeps his MP-Megatron Plug on display.

Good to see I'm not the only one who keeps his BT/Alternators in car mode :D
