I am considering getting either:

• Soundwave with Ravage & Laserbeak (BBTS)
• Ultra Magnus vs Skywarp (BBTS)

I don't care for Magnus or Skywarp, per se, I just love the value of two for $45 versus one and two minis; however, I love Soundwave and would like to have him again.

Has anyone bought this Soundwave? What is he like?

My 10yo has Classics Prime so I know what to expect from Magnus. I've seen a TFwire YouTube review of Starscream so I know what to expect from Skywarp, I think.

Well, if you've ever played with a G1 Soundwave then you already know how this figure is, he's just a reissue of the original toy. Still damn cool but nothing new.

Personally I'd pick up the Magnus/Skywarp set. I got this yesterday and spent last night looking over the toys and I have to say they are top notch. If you dig the scale of Classics then these guys are must-haves. I think Skywarp will be permanently on display on my desk.

45 for magnus and skywarp? man thats alot! the set retailed for 20 and they were on clearence for 15 for ahwile... i think they over do the white repaint of optimus as magnus figure but thats me... i needed that set for classics skywarp which is a great figure... but thats a bit much for thatset.
the soundwave is just like the original, except that has the double deep cassette holder(they used the japanese soundblaster mold) and that reissue was 30 bucks at retail. being that you have a 10yr old, id say youre old enough to remember the old g1 days and i think you cant go wrong with soundwave.

Yes, Soundwave was my 2nd favorite G1 Transformer, with Optimus Prime being first because of his character and trailer.

Any place where I can buy Soundwave cheaper?

I lament the fact that I can't find a trailer! I want a trailer for Classics Prime.

If you can't find the Soundwave at a local TRU, then get him. That is one of the best TF figures of all time.

Yeah, if you're not so big on the Skywarp/Magnus pack, I wouldn't bother. But Soundwave is awesome and was one of my personal grails, so if I were you, I'd go for him.

try this site http://www.shoppertron.com they link to all places that sell tf toys and give you the sites prices, its not updated all that often so its a little out of date but its a good starting point. Also the soundwave reissue is techniclly still in stores(Toys r us only), but it is rather hard to find now.

I agree: it's hard to go wrong with a G1 reissue of Soundwave, Laserbeak and Ravage.
