Calling all Beast Wars Experts.

I'm closing in on some of the final figures I need from the U.S. show. I had some questions about paint decos and the like. I noticed a couple other BW threads but wasn't sure if this fit the same themes. If so, please merge. Anyway, on to my questions.
Scorponok, from what I can see from TFU, he looks exactly the same from both Kenner/Hasbro and Takara. Is this correct? Any outstanding differences I should be aware of? The same questions apply to Transmetal 2 Megatron. I've also been looking around a bit at different galleries for season one Airazor. I see that there is a version of her that came with a VHS tape and her paint apps are a bit different and darker in some places than the normal Hasbro version. Who made this version? I feel this is the better version to get. Any differing opinions or show accuracy opinions on which is better. Please voice those opinions I want to hear them. Also, if and where applicable I'd like the basic price points I should expect to pay for these guys. I'd really appreciate the help guys and gals. Thanks.

transmetal 2 megatron has a darker bronze type colour than the hasbro version. The tampograph says destron rather than megatron and some have a slightly more blue than purple colour on the chrome.

Im sure your probably aware that all the takara transmetals have the same markings with their factions whereas the hasbro versions had the individual character names.

hmmm, sorry dude, i'm a big fan of the BW series, but i don't have either of the 2 figs...maybe some other dudes who are at the other BW threads could help ya out here.

but a general rule of thumb (though it doesn't apply on all cases), takara's versions of the BW figs are usually more animation-accurate than the hasbro/kenner releases. most but not all i think. 8)

Scorpinok & Airrazor are pretty much the same. I don't think there was much difference between Takara & Hasbro during the first Beast Wars line. As MegaDave said, the only guaranteed difference would be "Predacon"/"[insert name]" being changed to Destron.

I actually found out the info I needed for the VHS Airazor. For those who might be curious like I was, she was a Kenner/Hasbro release. Because of that, I would assume she's easier to get stateside than if she were a Takara release. Scorponok does LOOK the same from what I can see. I'm curious if there are differences I can't make out. I certainly like the idea of a more fire related coloration for the Takara TM2 Megatron. I'll have to do some picture hunting. The question remains about show accuracy though. I'm going from memory here and as usual memories can be tricky. Yes, obviously I'm picky. Bear with me.

hey no prob, i'm pretty picky with my figs too, that's why i'm holding out for the 20th anni primal as he's the most show-accurate primal ever, complete with prime lips. 8)

TM Megatron is tough...

In some scenes in the show, the American release is more accurate, in other scenes, it's the Japanese release.

If you have the Season 2 BW dvds, look at the inside jacket, that's the Japanese Metals Megatron.

I have never seen pics of either Airrazor or Scorponok on my searches so far. Could you guys post some pics in this thread?

What I'm doing with all of my BW purchases is just spending a lil extra money and buying the Takara versions. As zemp has said they are more show accurate and are made of better plastic.

But man, am I ever feeling overwhelmed by the number of Beast Wars figs I want. I want them all!

I do have the DVDs yes, although I already have the first Transmetal Megatron from Hasbro. I'm meaning the second one, the large red dragon. I will actually have both the Hasbro and Takara versions of the first TM soon enough.

Zemper isn't exactly correct. The new Waspinator from Takara has a great paint job but the plastic is garbage. There's no general rule of thumb between each company. Every figure must be judged on a case by case basis.

I SHOULD know this since I do know the man and have met him on several occasions. We've even rambled on about the toys for long periods of time. Haven't seen him on here or 2005 in a while though. He's got to be fairly busy with family. I'm sure the kiddies are a handful.
