Anyone else think Classics/Energon Rodimus's face just isn't right?

I've never been a huge Hot Rod fan, but I have both Energon Rodimus and Classics Rodimus(don't have either Hot Rod or Rodimus Prime), but I just couldn't connect "Hot Rod" or "Rodimus Prime" to them cause of the face. At first I thought it was just cause the face just looked too old and serious(still do), but after gathering some pics for this thread, I noticed that the head isn't entirely accurate to either show or figure either. What's up with the yellow on the head?

So who else think's the head for Classics/Energon Rodimus just isn't right? Pics for reference:

From the show, Hot Rod:

Classics Rodimus:

And here's how Classic Rodimus's face should have looked, like Titanium Rodimus's:

And just for fun, Hot Rodimus's face:

Sharp lookin Micro, it's almost enough to make me wanna get the Star Convoy reissue just for him.

I agree with you. The closest I think is Titanium Rodimus Prime, but even it seems to have more of Hot Rods face.

As for the yellow, wasn't it flames?

I dunno, E-Rodimus is good enough for me, but I do agree that classics isn't as close as it should be.

Yeah, now that you say that he does. Maybe they'll repaint him as Transtech Cheetor in Universe. :P

Heads on the toys of Hasbro figures are never really show accurate. On the other hand, Takara figures are very show accurate with most of the heads.

I actually like the Energon Rodimus head. It looks pretty rough looking.

Back on topic. Yeah Classsic's is nowhere near Cartoon Rodimus.

But I think Energon Rodimus is very close to Hot Rod, bar the yellow eye brow things.

Energon Rodimus's head is a tad shorter and wider to hide away into the smaller hole in the figure.

Other than that it's not too dissimilar to Hot Rod, you can still easily tell who the head is meant to belong to.

Same with the classics figure, its not quite right, but its good enough.

You know who Energon Rodimus' mold looks like is G1 Prowl. It really stands out on the Rodimus redeco, Checkpoint. He looks way more like "Prowl" than Energon Prowl does.

Hmm, Checkpoint does resemble Prowl. I think it's the eyebrows though. You can see the cartoon model had a semblence of eyebrows, but they weren't colored in. IDW Hot Rod doesn't have colored in eyebrows(barring th cover for Infultration #6). Why do they keep putting these prounounced eyebrows in?

And I did forget about Titanium Rodimus, I'll add his pic up there too. But that's a lot more of a Hot Rod face to me, cause it's not that of an angry scowl, and that's what's really getting me about Classics Rodimus's head. Hot Rod was a more or less a anything goes, let's make the best of things kind of guy, not a war torn old grump. Yeah, Titanium Rodimus still has the eyebrows, but they aren't as pronounced.

And Classic Rodimus's body with Cheetor's head really works! Not so much the Rodimus head though.
