Unbelievable Wal-Mart Story

So I stopped by one of the Wal-Marts on the west side of Cleveland, hoping to find Longarm or an 08/09 Bumbles. While I didn't find them, I couldn't believe what I saw....

CLASSICS!!!

After seeing bare pegs at that store for at least two months, the TF section is bursting at the seems with old stock. At least four pegs overflowing with deluxes (Grimlock x 4, Cliffjumper, Ramjet, Mirage, and Rodimus x 3).

They had the minicon three packs in spades, as well as about 10 Prime/Megs DVD sets.

They even had four 20th Anniversary Primes, which I've never seen there before.

On top of that, they had a bunch of scout class Cybertron figs, Cybertron Primus, and a case of Alternators (Skids, Ricochet, Sunstreaker, Rollbar).

The weird part of all of this is that I don't think this was stock that wasn't put out b/c they clearanced off all of their non-movie TFs right before the beginning of June. If they were planning to hold some of that stuff back, why not just take the figs back with the rest of them? Why bother to clearance some of the stock while (in some cases - Mirage and Cliffjumper) sitting on the same exact figures?

Anyone seen a similar thing at their walmarts? Any ideas why this would happen? It was like I went back in time by a year.... Too bad I didn't have a camera.

Not sure it's probably a sign that the wal-mart you were at is not expecting the new wave of movie toys for a bit longer, and would rather not have bare shelves. So they probably put the classics, and other older stuff out till they get the supply of movie toys they need.

I know the wal-marts in my area have 3 sections of transformers in one isle. One section full of classics, another full of cybertron line, and a nearly empty Movie Line section. :-?

That's the story everywhere. Classics and Cybertron figs all over the place. Alternators showing up too. Hasbro is cleaning out the warehouses and shipping ANYTHING with Transformers on it.

Can you blame them? Hasbro is selling more stock than they ever would have dreamed.

Plus I would not be complaining, Cybertron and Classics are great lines, and many newer fans, in particular the ones who have come aboard due to the movie, wouldn't have had a chance to get those figures otherwise.

I'm not complaining at all. I love the Classics and am now looking for them instead of movie toys. i'm looking for Starscream and Bumblebee for some friends that missed them the first time.

If Hasbro wants to fill the pegs up with Classics, Alternators and Cybertron, BRING IT ON! (But ease up on the classics Cliffjumper and Mirage)

I actually bought Cybertron Primus today...

Ok I have to say I didn't think I would be attracted to any of the Cybertron series, but this thing is pretty damn cool, and at Toys R Us with a 20% off coupon this week? Can't go wrong. I can't wait to open it.

I guess it is true then. I didn't expect to find some of this stuf today, but I guess it's a good thing that they get at least something out on those shelves. Very smart indeed. I will totally be buying up some classics if this is what's going on.

Again... didn't think I'd dig on a Cybertron fig, but this huge Primus one's not bad at all. Might even do a custom paint on it too.

This is great news TF fans!!! Classics coming back too! Can't wait!!! And it's pay day today too! YAY!!!!

I am now very glad that Hasbro is having a supply problem with the movie toys. It's fun to run around to all the stores to see what's out there. There's literally NO TELLING what can be found out there right now.

Hell, G1 reissues might start showing up everywhere next week.

I was definately not complaining. Classics are great figures and being able to pick up Alts, even at $20 is cheaper than on EvilBay. Now I can kitbash Ricochet into Alt Cliffjumper!

I had a strange experience at TRU today. I went in about 10 days ago and their TF display was up front, loaded to the gills with the movie line, the chibis, and a few other random things. Today I went in, and the section had been downgraded and put back in the action figure aisle. I saw barely any movie line toys, but I found some Titanium series and War Within. I got Rodimus Prime Titanium, preparing to pay full price, only to get the the register and discover he was half off. Should've gone back for Optimus. They barely had much else; I'm surprised he was at such a discount.

Yeah, and being a new collector, I love it. I snagged Jetfire yesterday, and today I went to my local Wal-Mart and got Cybertron Downshift and Excellion. Haven't opened them yet, but if I can trust you guys' word, I'm in for good times.

They didn't have any other Classics figures though, so I'm gonna check out the Wal-Mart close to work. I would love to snag a Grimlock and Mirage.

I indeed like it as well. I've been able to complete my classics line totally, and even have a few extra Bumble Bee, StarScream, and Rodimus classics figures for my gain!!! I think it's a good break as we get to escape the grips of the scalpers who overprice some of these figures (StarScaream), and rip people off. Heck of alot better to pay $9.69 for a Bumble Bee or Starscream than the $50.00  or more dollars the scalpers charge!!

ROCK ON!!!! 8)

That's interesting that everyone is having those kinds of experiences. My local Walmart has plenty of Cyber-slammers, Real Gear, TECH and those OP Blasters. Absolutely no old stock from any previous lines. If there were I'd be tempeted to grab a Ricochet and Rollbar to complete my alternators as best as I could with the unpredictable distribution of TF product. Alas poor Camshaft, Nemesis Prime, Rumble and Ravage 2.0 will never see my display shelves.

Okay, so then that confirms that this is not something just happening to me, as i already wrote about here.

It's a great way to lower the prices on some alternators

Not sure if this helps, but Ravage 2.0 is in the current Argos catalogue over here (with OPs and Wheeljack), maybe you can find someone over on the good ship ODB who can send one to you...not me tho, completely broke till payday

here is the link http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500000701&langId=-1&searchTerms=ravage[/url]

Gosh, I would LOVE to find some Starscreams as I wanted to do some repaints. Ya know, maybe a Sunstorm, a green custom, and some generic greays to fill out the ranks as I LOve the mold.

I am driving from Boston to Indiana for a family thingy at my grandparents house tomorrow. I will stop by every Walmart I see. Hopefully I'll get lucky!

Nice finds though.

Travelling alot is how I've found a ton of what I have in the last few weeks. Peru, IL; Fairview Heights, IL; St. Louis, MO; lots of other places...
