Should I purchase a second Classics UM/Skywarp set?

I plan on opening my first set for display (the packaging is somewhat damaged, at any rate), but the purchase of a second set has crossed my mind.
Have any of these exclusives noticeably appreciated in value? The $20 isn't particularly important to me, but there are other things I could spend it on.

Fans really like Skywarp and he tends to appreciate quickly in value when his figure plays homage to his G1 appearance.
Ultra Magnus can sometimes be a toss up. It depends on his form. Ultra Magnus has two modes - His "armored" form and his "white Prime" form. Everytime Ultra Magnus gets released in his "white Prime" form - fans always respond "I wish they released his armor".
People are just not as impressed with Ultra Magnus when he gets released as a "white Prime". Will Classic Ultra Magnus appreciate over time? Sure, but at a slower rate than Skywarp.

It's also a limited issue confined to one set of stores. There's possibilities for making some money, I guess.

I've got two. After hearing how they disappeared from shelves, I almost bought another when I saw them the other day. It's just hard on my accountant.
Er...wife.

Concidering I live in the UK, amd the set is probably not gonna make it here, I think I'll be happy with one set. Although if reprolabes were to do a set of stickers for them, I'd feel duty bound to get another set somehow.
(As it is I,m looking to get another Starscream and Hotrod so I can have a reproed version and an origanal version.)
I was disapointed with the paint qc on magnus, I cant understand how SW could be so well painted, and Magnus have lining that didnt quite reach the end of the gun and a bit of paint missing on one of his 'ear spikes', not to mention the fact that that is a big white hole in the paint scheme where the gun hanfle of the larger gun is in alt mode...
And the white head, oh dear the white head...
So yeah.
IF I were to get the pack again, I'd have to break my no painting rule to redo magnus.

Skywarp is a prime example of a repaint that is much more popular than the original. I wish Magnus got something extra whenever he was released, even if it's just a shoulder missile or a different head, anything to pay tribute to his original form and separate himself from prime.

Primacron, I don't know how far you live from the Dearborn area, but either the DB Target(on Ford Rd), or the Allen Park Target(off of Southfield Freeway, Oakwood Dr.) both have a ton of them. Or if you can't make it there, I'm sure someone from the MI thread would help you out.
As far as grabbing a second set, I would. I have extras myself. Better $20 now than $80-100 a year from now. This set will skyrocket in value once they can't be found anymore, that I guarantee.

Alright, if you think I can be trusted, PM me your interest on getting your hands on UM/SW. I will look the next time I run through some Targets and grab one for you. Disclaimer up front: I cannot guarantee finding them right now; I will try to find the best packaging, but condition might not be mint box. Also, let mke know if figure quality is more important than box quality.
I will not gouge you. I can send things UPS from my work and include copies of shipping charges, receipts, etc.
Oh, for shipping charge purposes, if that is a factor, I'll be shipping from Minneapolis, MN. I believe you can check shipping charges from the UPS website. I'm gonna guess that the package will be around 5 lbs. That might give you a rough estimate.
Cheers!

Agamemnon,
I'm in Minn. too! The Target's in Shakopee and Chaska had 10-13 each of the UM/SW 2-packs....
I'm willing to try and help out: PM Ag and he can PM me from there if he needs help....
Good luck all,
S.P.

While I agree with rather having something to set himself apart from Prime, I noticed that Masterpiece MP-02 Ultra Magnus is typically sold at a higher price than MP-01 Optimus Prime, that is when you can find an MP-02 Ultra Magnus. I'm sure someone may know if Ultra Magnus was released in a more limited quantity. It may also be due to the demand for MP-04 Prime with Trailer which would mean they are trying to reduce the price of MP-01 to sell remaining stock. Either way, Ultra Magnus has been released in smaller quantities in the classic and Masterpiece series which could make it more sought after.

I am a stone's throw away from Chestefield, who's Target has NOTHING, if that helps any.

I thought I posted this... but I prefer ultramagnus' appearance to Optimus Prime. Much more pleasing to the optic.

Hmmm. Looks like plain old inconsistent distribution. You should at least try the DCPI #(Though I forget it)...it isn't that much of a hassle. And, like I said, I'm sure that someone could at least set one aside for you.

Are they getting ready to stop selling the Ultra Magnus/ Skywarp set? I could have sworn that they cost around $24.99-$29.99 range but I walked into one of my local Targets today and saw they had one sitting on the shelf. I hadn't bought one yet but figured I should before they start getting really hard to find. When I went to pay it was $19.99. I could have sworn that the price on the shelf said $24.99. Basically I got a repaint Prime at the same cost as regular Prime and a free Skywarp figure.

Everywhere I've seen them at Target they've been priced at $19.99. Which is sort of a steal as Optimus is $19.99 and Starscream is $9.99.

I find it funny that not only I, but many other people call Ultra Magnus a white Prime repaint, but no one seems to bag on Skywarp being a Starscream repaint. I think maybe it's because Skywarp's color scheme looks really cool and technically he is a seperate character. When you see Ultra Magnus he usually has his armor on and without it he just looks naked and out of place. That's why I am excited about the Titanium G1 Ultra Magnus which will have him in his armor and supposedly his chest opens up to store the matrix.
Does anyone know if there is going to be a Classics Thundercracker? I really don't feel like doing a repaint of an extra Starscream, if I can find one. I hear the Classics line is going to be ending but has anyone seen anything official on that. The line just seems really Decepticon lite even if you include TRU commemorative Soundwave, which I don't since he is more of a reissue in Classics packaging.
