I was reading Deszaras (Deathsaurus) profile and mention him take over as the leader of decepticons after the mysterious death of Overlord. So who was overlord and what did the toy version include and how did transform.

Overlord was the lead decepticon in Masterforce. He was a powermaster with 2 engines...Mega & Giga. Given the mobile suit nature of the way they handled Masterforce, overlord didn't really have a personality, but Mega & Giga combined kinda gave him one.

I guess you could also consider it to be a Duocon, because it took 2 vehicles to make 1 robot.

He was rival to Ginrai, the Japanese counterpart to Powermaster Optimus Prime.

I don't think they actually considered the leader, though Giga & Mega did seem to lead most of the time...they answered to some sort of floating energy orb called Z...who later posessed Black Zarak (repainted Scorponok) to lead himself.

Overlord is one of the best TFs ever. He deserves a Reissue.

Masterforce was kind of a way for them to cash in on the Super Sentai and Transformers genres at the same time, as well as being a direct off shoot of the Headmasters concept it followed. Victory of course went pretty much back to the basics.

At least the whole Powermasters gimmick was better then the cyberkey and powerlink gimmicks that we've had. Of course Victory originated Powerlinking with Landcross.

Plus the Victory series, had Brainmasters, Breastmasters, and Dinosaur Pretenders. It's probaly the best Jap serries in G1.

It should be pointed out that the European release of the figure gave him a different bio. There, he was a (very) mobile attack force and arms factory serving the Decepticon cause under Megatron (Or Galvatron ?). He's supposed to be a top-level threat, too... Similar to Trypticon, but maybe even worse.

Which is how I will keep him in mind.
