Classics Optimus & Megatron

I saw these selling in a shop yesterday, but they were not the classic voyagers, just the standard size same as rodimus, bumblebee, starscream etc. Was megatron as a tank, and a malnourished looking optimus prime.

I have not seen these before anywhere? Are they new or just rare or?

They've been out ages.

Megatron has a nice alt, and a robot mode which would be nice if it wasnt ruined by the flailing gun arm gimmick.

Prime has a reasonably rubbish alt mode, but a VERY nice VERY G1 and VERY posable robot mode, and a nice gun to boot. Prime was based on Takara's Robot Masters version of G1 Prime/Convoy, but is by and large rather better.

It's probably just surplus they recently put out to fill shelves.

I'd stay away from them, though. Neither figure is good enough to warrant the price. *thumbs down*

They have their downsides, I admit, but I still like them :)

I got it at Wal-Mart a few days ago. I think it's pretty good! Both nice little figures, plus a DVD!
;)^

I'll admit that I *really* like Megatron's alt mode, and his robot mode isn't bad. But, on mine at least, a lot of parts keep falling off his right arm. Plus there's the feet problem.

Prime's alt mode is just disgusting in my opinion. His robot mode is very poseable, but, again on mine, his neither his upper body or his alt mode wheels lock into place. The former resulting in a "tazmanian" Prime every time I pick him up, and the latter just looking bad. He does, however, have the most awesome gun ever.

All that said, I would definitely put down 10 dollars for Megatron, but I'm not going to pay 20 for him. That's just me though. 8) Glad somebody likes them!

Prime has a small black tab on his back, if you pull it out enough until it locks, his upper body locks into place. So he doesn't flail around like a crazy person. (Or the Tazmanian Devil)

Anyway, I kinda like those 2.I agree Megatron's, gun arm gimmick is really dumb, and mine keeps popping off. But he looks pretty cool in both modes.
Prime, I'll agree has a really poor alt mode. But his robot mode is fantastic. Completely poseable. And if you lock that little black tab on his back, he can even pose well, as his upper body then ratchets, and stays in place. His gun is also pretty cool.

They have some flaws, but overall, I think they looks very nice posed.

I don;t regret paying the 20 bucks for them. but i think around 15 maybe less would have been a better price

It just covers the history of conflict between optimus prime and megatron during armada, energon and cybertron it's o.k. if you missed the first two series. But other than that it really isn't worth it.

Thanks! I was thinking that because I just HAD to see the action feature I'm now stuck with a flailin' Optimus Prime!

The DVD is a big 22 minute recap episode of Cybertron I think. It's a nice rundown of Transformers. It also has a little photo gallery of the toys. It's nice, and advanced my knowledege of Transformers somewhat. If you know everything about it though I can't imagine you'd find it too entertaining.

No prob. it seams everybody that has this figure always misses that you can pull on the black tab, and it locks the upper body. It makes a world of difference.

And yeah the DVD really isn't all that great. I mean if you did not see any of the 3 cartoons, you might get a kick out of it. With Prime explaining the war between himself and Megs. and why they change bodies, etc...

I saw it once, and now Its landed in the never to be seen again DVD box.

The G2 Megatron almost saves the horrible Prime mold.

If the set is cheap (for two deluxe figures) pick it up, if not skip it.

This set is way under rated, in my opinion.

The Prime figure comes across as a youthful version of the character(not that machines age) with its slim body and big eyes. its poseable and has a neat gun, plus the head lights on his fists look like knuckle dusters - However the spin gimmick & alt mode are total rubbish.

Megatron is wicked, he's my second favourite Classics Deluxe(after Skywarp) just imagine how cool he'd be if he didn't have that dopey arm and was Voyager class!
He's covered in detail too, if you look up into his chest from behind you'll see molded detail like circuts and wires etc - that's great.

The DVD is garbage BTW.

Thanks for the tip with Prime's upper body! It never occurred to me to pull the tab the other way.

I'm still not a huge fan of the set, but a few glue applications on Megs I'll at least be a bit more pleased. :D

What do you mean it wasn't a set, of course it was a set. They come packaged together with a DVD.

Here is the set:

Finished gluing Megatron's parts on. Much better. I'm also beginning to think that this mold is a few tweaks away from becoming Warpath!

On another note, does anyone have any advice on how to turn his feet around properly? I've removed the screw in his ankles, but the foot piece remains tightly in place.

I did not know that. I guess you learn something every day.

As for Megs, yeah he's got potential for Warpath.

I saw this set in the store yesterday and passed on it. I like Megs well enough but the Prime just bothers me and I'm not about to pay $20 for one figure that I have lukewarm feelings about.
