Is he worth the $$$? I'm on the fence on him right now.

My friend bought his, and it looked ok. Wasnt really a big deal in terms of looks. He's pretty small. and Not much detail on him either.

Yeah I'm on the fence too - I've got a SoundBlaster pre ordered but he is rather pricey.

I want him as a display figure, not as a MP3 player - so I'm not 100% yet.

Can we get some un biased opinion up in hurr :???: please.

He is the single most posable Soundwave there has ever been. And he looks good. And he plays mp3s.

So I'd ay yes, he is worth it.

Sadly, you do have to buy a memory card and usb adaptor seperatly to him, but nothing's perfect.

I can't believe I pre-ordered him. $94 is quite a chunk of change, so I do hope he's worth it. I find the idea rather clever, and in a way, it was almost meant to be. He IS a functioning music player now. I was going to go for Soundblaster, but since the blue one is available for pre-order, I may as well go for the original color scheme. If I was rich like some of you, I probably wouldn't worry as much, and would get both. In any case, at least I will have something unique, and I don't have an MP3 player anyway. The first one may as well be evil. ;)

Reprolabels can take away the bland:

I am very tempted by that set.

Wow, those reprolabels really bring him to life - did Soundblaster have different coloured stickers?

Reprolabels would have ot do a bit of recolouring on those stickers, as there are some with blue on them, not that I see that as a major job for them. And as far as i can tell without taking mine outa the display case, the origanal Soundwave and Soundblaster have exactly the same stickers in exactly the same colours.

Hmm, I can still get him for $80 from a good source. However, I am still undecided. He costs as much as the future MP Soundwave will. I think I might regret buying him in the future. I am sooo on the fence with this one.

With the mp3 player, do you have to play your mp3s in sequence? Is there a shuffle button? There doesn't seem to be a way to browse them and play the one you want. The mp3 player part of it seems disappointing. Either make a decent mp3 player (I would be willing to pay more for it) or not have it at all.

No shuffle button, but forward and backward on song are there.

Thanks. That seems kind of horrible. So you are pretty much forced to listen to your mp3s in the same order each time.

I am telling you, if they took the tech out, and sold him as a classics deluxe for a lower price, this soundwave mold would FLY off the shelves, I would buy all three versions under these circumstances.

I dont need an MP3 player, but the mold is great.

I will keep my fingers crossed.

Yes, unless you shuffle the songs on the card itself.

But I don't mind, it drives me crazy when another song but the expected one comes.

kids these days. did tape decks have a shuffle function? do records? I like getting tracks in a specific order. It is sad there's not a display to tell you what track it is though, but I suppose, since they are only in one order it should be easy enough. arg!
Still conflicted about getting one of these, I do want a new mp3 player. I do like the toy. he does have red eyes. but I just got the TRU Soundblaster repaint. maybe if they still have some nearer christmas.

Well, neither tapes, record nor (audio) CDs can hold 1000 songs. You'd have to listen for days to get to the last song or you would be constantly hitting the FF button. And at least records have random access. :p

Its worse than that, not only dose it have no readout and no shuffle, it also always starts from the beginning (though Im not entirly sure what it classes as the beginning, I just know it always starts from there).

But still, I want to get the black n white ones to complement the blue un.

It plays in what ever chronological order you put the songs on the card. So the first song you put on the card is the start.

None of that is a big deal. He was not meant to compete with iPods and Zunes. He reminds me of one of those memory sticks that can play MP3's. Just a simple little fun device for occasional use. For all the fancy features, one should opt for dedicated players like iPods, Zunes, and other brands anyway.
