I have bought the Japanese version of Depthcharge and Rampage off Ebay.
Depthcharge was perfect.
but my Rampage had clear red plasic with metalic fleck where the regular red plastic would be.

Is this just how its suposed to look?
all the box and instruction photos show it as a solid regular red plastic.

Is this one a special variant?

mines the same (also Jap), weird eh?

i'm interested in getting a Rampage someday, maybe Takara version since it comes in a two-pack with Silverbolt. could you post any pics of this clear plastic part(s) that you are saying?

I know the US Rampage and the Japanese Rampage have different color schemes. As to which one is closer to the cartoon, I'm not sure. I'm thinking that it's just a Japanese variation.

Clear plastic on a Takara bot can mean exclusive in many cases.

Like Crystal UM in the Magna Convoy Giftset.

Might be a Japan TRU exclusive or something, if it is I havent heard of it though.

This is what the clear red looks like, its a deeper red with metalic flecks.



As for which version is more show accurate, the Takara version is, the North Ameracan version lacks the X he has on his back in the show, this is the reason I bought the Takara version, I could see the X from the pic on ebay.


Im actually thinking of buying the Hasbro version and switching the red bits. Theres one inmy local store still.

hey, likin' the paint job on that rampage! maybe i should really get the takara version...

as for the clear red, i don't think it looks bad after all, in fact it complements the nicely done paint & vac metal finish.

Red Plastic seems perfectly fine. Then again, all you see is metal screws, etc.

I prefer the Takara version.

Gutsman, who do you order all your cool Jap stuff from?

just an observation: i think that hasbro's rampage figure is more animation-accurate since takara rampage's chest plate & mandibles are differently colored compared to rampage in the show. i think instead of metallic silver its more of a red-orange hue.

but still, nice paint job on this version though.
