I recently bought a Takara 74 Bumblebee and before I opened it up, I saw that it had the "bad" automorph feature instead of the corrected later version. Fortunately, I bought it from Toynk's retail store so I do have a return option for it. My question is, do all the Takara 74 Bumblebee's have the defective automorph lock or do some have the corrected version and should I return the toy to Toynk.

I'm not sure what the bad or corrected automorph feature is honestly. I bought my 74' BB when they first came out and never heard there was a difference.

Even the "defective" one works properly most of the time. You just need to push harder on the button, that's about it.

I found that before pressing the button, turn the car upside down and swing down the Autobot logo/chestplate. Then with your thumb in the recess push the button, the extra leverage makes the button depress much easier! I have both the Takara and Hasbro BB 74's, both with the "Fat tab" never had a problem with either of them!

I have the defective Hasbro version. As long as you push the button when changing from car to bot FIRST and don't pull the front end of the car down to form the chest you shouldn't have any problems. You do have to apply a bit of pressure to press the button though. As long as you are careful you don't need to return it.

Pushing the button first is not optional, it's mandatory.
