I thought a nice lil gobot thread would be in order.

For starters, here's a neat little site with reviews and images of the toys.

http://www.counter-x.net/gobots/reviews/index.html

So let's talk about some of them, shall we?

And please no gobot bashing, this thread is for talking about the good stuff, mmmkay? :-P

I liked some of them, Res-Q and Dozer are still in my collection from way back in the day when I got them as a kid. Honestly, they were better figures than some stuff out today.

Some stuff :P

Cool, so there is a website with reviews of Gobots.

But they only gave Dive Dive a 3.5! But then again, they did give Flip-top a 5 out of 5, so they aren't TOO off the mark. Dive Dive and Flip-Top are two of my fave Gobots, but my Fliptop is pretty messed up, and I need to get a new one someday :-( .

Other really cool guys are Flytrap and Vamp. Flytrap is awsome cause he transforms into a garbage truck, which is unique. Vamp is awsome cause he(or was it she? never heard it speak in an episode) is just plain cool in both alt. and robot modes.

Zod was one of my favorite figures as a kid. Plus, he made annoying sounds, which was awsome. Wasn't articulate, but he was great.

Oh, and GoBots are just as good as most Transformers at the basic size, and they had a larger variety of alt. modes in the beginning.

My brother had the motorbike one (Steed or something?) and I had Ladder 1. I smashed the **** out of his Steed, so he took a **** on my Ladder 1.

Seriously, true story.

Spoons was one of the first transforming robots I ever had, and even now, looking at the pics on TFU.Info, I STILL think he's one of the best of that era, especially for his size.

What was the female car called? She was mostly black and a renegade. It doesn't look like there was a toy of her after looking at that site :(

Checking out the website and then going to: http://www.toyarchive.com/Gobots/Go-Bots.htmlI never realized I had as many as I did. I still have Staks (the one with blue back instead of black which we used to call fake Optimus Prime as kids), Psycho, Dive-Dive (although I think the one I have may have been a KO because he was all grey and no markings), Elf, Water Walk (may have also been a KO he had white wings, red chest and dark blue legs), Blaster (green version) and I can no longer find them but HansCuffs and Van Guard. I think I also have several other KOs somewhere else.

I haven't seen any DVDs out there of Go-Bots but I know you can see a few episodes on youtube. I don't remember the show being as good as Transformers but I can remember several character like Scooter, Leader-1, and Cy-Kill.

My favorites were:

Leader 1
Coptur
White Crasher
Green Cykill
Fitor (is that how it's spelled?)
Ace
Turbo
and last but not least:
Puzzler!!!!! (Better than a lot of gesalts)
and the powersuit thing (cool concept...)

I think a lot of people ended up with Go-Bots because people thought they were buying them Transformers.

I had gobots as a kid, but didn't like them. Recently I have acquired Puzzler and Monsterous, the two combiners, and they are fantastic. Especially Monsterous, he's as good as Transformer gestalt figures.

Sometimes the opposite. Gobots was more popular in the town I grew up in. In fact, when one of the kids in my kindergarden class dressed up as optimus prime for holloween in 1985 ( nice costume too, it was actuall solid pieces of plastic parts and helmet and a pistol. The costume looked expensive  ), he said he was a gobot for halloween.

I did not have the heart to tell him he was not a gobot.

They seemed really bootleged when they came out. I stated in my previous post that I had at least a couple of bootleged Go-Bots but I never had any bootleg Transformers.
