An interesting item has surfaced on eBay claiming to be a hand-painted, unproduced prototype of a Generation 2 Starscream figure, classified as "Jungle Attack" Starscream.

The auction page can be viewed by clicking here. Here's what the seller, senuseret72, has to say about the history of this peculiar item:

This auction is for a very rare Transformers Gen 1 Starscream prototype. This piece was painted in-house at Hasbro by a designer as consideration for the G2 line. The most likely proposal for this piece was a Jungle Attack Starscream and while not accepted, this piece remains unproduced. This is a production version G1 Starscream that has been redecorated internally at Hasbro for purposes of progressing the line.

This piece is a production version G1 Starscream that has been redecorated internally at Hasbro by a designer in consideration for the G2 line. The proposal most likely would have been for a Jungle Attack Starscream however this particular concept was not accepted and remains unreleased. Proposals are given at line meetings where decisions are made in which direction to take the line. This piece was more than likely created for a line meeting and never made it past that stage of development. The additional Starscream was found with the Jungle Deco Starscream and so they are being auctioned together. Purchased directly from a former Hasbro employee, the provenance is direct.

The color scheme looks G2-ish. Black and Neon...

I can't tell, is there anything different about the other Starscream??

It's a shame they went with that Easter Sunday pink pastel version instead of this. That camo job looks puuuurty.

Interesting paint scheme, glad they didnt go through with it though, camouflage is not in Starscream's nature.

That's beautiful, but too expensive to bid on, even though the 'Screamer whore in me wants to. Mebbe a kitbash is in order, yesssss....

That IS cool. Really like that. Maybe we'll get something like that at some point in the future.

If I ever find another Classics Starscream, I'm repainting him like that.

I like it. It's quite different, and it would be really cool to see in retail, or it would have been.

 That is just Pri... I mean, AMAZING!
I just wonder hwy haven't this done before :???: I can't remember if I ever toyed with the idea of a fan-fic character with such a paint scheme. I am not sure but I wouldn't be surprised because the concept rocks! \m/

It doesn't say 'Starscream' to me, but I WANT ONE!

The description of the figure is terribly confused because it is so repetative. While I find the figure a curiousity, I don't think it's terribly interesting other than as a production model.

A camo Seeker? cool!

Actually, it's surprizing that we haven't had more TFs with camoflage considering how many are combat verhicles - I guess it comes down to paint and expence.

And the fact that Jungle camo doesn't really suit a Fighter Jet that will spend most of its time either in the Blue sky, or on the black and grey tarmac/concrete of runways.

Military aircraft with dark camo paterns on top and light blue or grey underbellies were common for many decades.

Yes they were. I recall seeing many pics of F-16s with grey/blue camo.

I am tempted to try and grab this given that it is legit. The close up shots though, make it look kinda shady. Looks like it was painted with water colors.

I don't see any proof that this is real. It's hand painted. Anybody could do a custom and make those claims. Without definitive proof that this is real, I wouldn't touch that auction. Unfortunately, if it is a fake some poor boob is gonna shell out some serious $$ on it and have nothing in his hands. Sorry, but I just don't trust "hand painted" without some really good proof. no way.

On top of that it looks like whoever painted it used a paintmarker or something. It looks terrible.
