In one of movie drafts plant cybertron was supposed to transform into giant robot which can only image would have been called primus and then battle unicron but that didn't happen either. Although that would have been a really cool ending to movie, and would have explained what vector sigma was. Then we could have avoid the whole quint subplot from the third season of the show which end up going no where fast. If they did end up sticking with that ending how big do think the toy would have been or do think there would have been a toy at all considering they never produced a unicron toy.

The Planetformer figures probably wouldnt be as articulated as we have now and I think I read back then they didn't have the engineering or whatever skill to do it as they do now.
But if they did make em after the movie..Probably still popular since they are G1 and it'd be different cause no toy went from planet to robot and back

They probably would have cost a lot more back then, with the way the toys were constructed in those days.

G1 planetformers would have been all diecast and weigh 60 lbs each.

there are some prototype images floating around and they are really really bad I'm actualy glad it wasn't made. There was also one for Beast Wars Neo that isn't as bad but honestly I'm glad we ended up with the Armada Unicron.

I'm really glad that there are only about seven of that G1 proto floating around. If that had been released I would have had to track it down and it would have been, quite frankly, an embaressment. That Neo Unicron on the other hand looks quite sweet, although we got a lot of those design elements on the Armada version anyway. Ah, Armada Unicron, a toy that was worth 16 years of waiting for.

My 'regret' is missing out on Unicron in recent times!

There's also the other Unicron Prototype:

Perhaps Dead End was an homage to a scrapped idea from the movie?
Anyway, I don't think either prototypes look that bad, and would look decent if they were in proper movie colors, but there's no doubt that the Unicron released in Armada was well worth the late, and is superior in every possible way.

Well a far as the g1 unicron protypes go all I can say is that theres a giant steaming pile of sh**, and nothing else. Ah transformers toy haratage you have got love it. But no one has answered my second question and about the planet cybertron turning into a giant robot, although after seeing the unicron protype I can say I'm glad they scraped that ending for the one we got.

Can I ask what your source is for this "Cybertron transforms to robot" ending? You seem very sure about it, but it's the first I've heard of it.

WOW !!!!! Someone must have really been a transfan or a collecter of rare unproduced items. I know I wouldn't have paid that much for anything that ugly.

Bite your tongue! Blasphamus! Its a piece of Transformers history and must be protected and preserved! Screw the redwoods! I say we collect donations to get Ryan on so we can get another Seibertron exclusive! All we need to do it watch out for that "Him" weirdo...

I know what the g1 unicron protype reminds me of is frosty the planet eating snowman. The source for that ending came from an interview that was conducted with one of the writer of the movie I think it was on transformers the movie 20th anv collectors edition dvd.

BWN Unicron was apparently small, about the size of Optimus Primal, BOO! Armada Unicron is awesome, just rip off the planet halves when he is in robot mode, looks much better.

Where did you hear that.Every thing I've read stated that he was going to be as large as G1 Metroplex.

trans wiki, they hardly imply that they are 100% on it mind you.
Takara tried again to produce a Unicron toy, only going as far as the resin stage. It was said to be around the size of Optimus Primal, and had several gimmicks, such as a laughing face when the horns were squeezed, and a claw and a drill that were stored in the planet "shell" in robot mode. One hardcopy was shown at the Tokyo Toy Fair.
