Hello,

I am, trying to decide between buying the Encore reissues or tracking down the Takara reissues. Specifically I am looking for Megatron, Prime and Soundwave.

I was wondering what the differences between the Encore and Takara Collection were?

Does Megatron have his Purple Flail in the Encore? Does Optimus have the Energon Axe?

Which product would be considered more durable and higher quality?

Are there any other differences?

Packaging is the main difference. Encore is packaged in G1-styled boxes, while Transformers Collection is in the book-style ones.

The Encore ones only come with the same accessories the originals did, however there are changes to the toys themselves which (I believe) were not present on the G1 versions. Optimus has a grey roller, a fatter gun, and his autobot symbol is tampographed on instead of a sticker. For Megatron I am not sure what the differences are, if any. No one has posted any information on Soundwave.

Both version should be equal quality and durability, as they are both produced by Takara/TakaraTomy.

Unless you really want the extra accessories and are willing to pay a lot more, I would recommend getting the Encore versions as they are more available and less expensive.
