If you haven't decided where you are going to buy your Masterpiece Megatron you are running out of places to buy an unmodded version. TFsource posted this yesterday:
We are completely presold out of all units we can currently procure of unmodded MP-05 Megatron. We will continue to search for additional inventory, but at this time we will only accept orders going forward that the understanding is it is for the modded version. We will reopen up ordering options on the unmodded if we can secure more inventory, so stay tuned.
I believe there are still a few places saying they will not be selling the unmodded MP-05 like agesthreeandup.com but I imagine the first run will be going quick.

I also noticed actionHQ.com is also still offering the pre-order and they will even go so far as to, at your request, transform Megatron to robot form so that there is no issue with customs if he does not already come in robot mode.

It's difficult to predict what will happen with Megatron when he gets released. We keep hearing many different things such as:
- Will Megatron be packaged in robot or alt mode?
- Will all foreign retailers receive an orange cap? Or, just the U.S. retailers? Does the retailer need to request the orange cap?
- Who will modify Megatron: Takara a third party?
- When will Megatron be modified? Before he is packaged or after?
- How will the cap be afixed? Is it removeable?
So many uncertainties. Takara likes to keep things under wrap, however, I think they would see more pre-sales if they disclosed some information to fans.

BigBadToyStore.com answers some of those questions.

This is ridiculous. I can understand making a $5 gun not look anything like a real one, but a $100 one?
And, I'm sorry, if you're stupid enough to point a toy gun at a cop (my brother's a cop), you deserve to be shot (not fatally, but to learn your lesson). If you try to hold up a bank with a toy gun, you deserve to go to jail. As long as people aren't taking this out of the package, and running around outside (or driving around) with it, I don't see a problem with keeping it unmodded.
I've wanted this thing forever (before it even existed!), and now, with no job, I have to justify spending $100 (or more) for something that looks worse than it should have to.
Thanks, liberal America!

is that necesarily bad news? it does pretty much say that theres gonna be an american release. but im guessing if it's going that route, it wont be a widespread release like optimus. maybe a hasbrotoyshop.com exclusive? or maybe SDCC exclusive, though ide imagin if it was the latter, or even a bot con thing, then it would be comming from the hasbro factory, and not takara...
unless hasbros not wanting a bazzilion prototypes leaking on ebay.

I browsed through the thread on Allspark, and found that post #58 raises a good point. This year is going to be the biggest in the history of the franchise with the movie and the resulting merchandising effort that could take Transformers, and other Hasbro lines, farther than ever before. The last thing that Hasbro and Takara want at such a crucial point, more than ever, is for some idiot to get shot because he or she fooled around with a toy Megatron in front the police or something. The fact that Hasbro is getting involved in stopping the uncapped figures from getting sold is proof.
I don't approve of the cap, or plug or whatever it's going to be, but if it makes the figure legal to buy, than so be it.

Yep, I preordered Mine from them ions ago. No way in hell I'm missing out on this one. Here's to hoping for a 100% Unmodded Megatron.
