Well I guess they want to make more money and lose more money at the same time.

I love how people treat hasbro like they're the umbrella corporation or Wal-mart. If they only used a mold for one figure scrapped it and made a new mold the cost of transformers would go up. and a lot of the repaints are cool. If you don't like them here's an idea... Don't buy them! I mean, not buying a transformer you don't like is so easy a caveman could do it.

Aron Archer had told people at Botcon last year I think that repaints were a way for them to bolster a line with more figures. He even admitted that Hasbro doesn't expect people to buy every single figure made. I highly doubt that Hasbro will stop making repaints so I'd say that if someone doesn't like repaints then just don't buy them.
Besides, sometimes the repaint looks better than the original release. Cybertron Galvatron or Energon Quickstrike (Bulkhead) anyone?

Repaints can be a good thing, look at the Target exclusive movie scouts, they are great cheaper figures that many newer fans would have otherwise missed.
Other repaints are great because they are so different than the original character, or are a homage to a G1/other series character.
Cybertron had many of both types or repaints, Ransack GTS and Dark Crumplezone being two of the better repaints of recent memory. The homages to Smokescreen, Kup, Repugnus and Swerve were also very well done.
The main reason the movie line repaints are so bad is because the repaints do not look better, or different enough from the original versions, and because the Movie figures are not the best made figures to begin with.

SOme repaints are good, G1 deco Jazz for instance rather the bleh gray color, Starscream actually looks better then his movie counterpart. Thundercracker should've been a brighter blue though =\
Still on the hunt for 2 Voyager primes so I can paint 1 into G1 cause well..I'm a nerd for G1 Prime as he was my idol when growing up. =D
