Why did Leader Megs on package look so different?

I know Hasbro always makes their figures look better on the back of the box, but I swear Megs had a different head altogether than the one inside the box. I don't mind either way, but why this massive difference, as opposed to the other toys?

Alot of times they photograph earlier concepts/prototypes for the box, before the final product is decided. That's why sometimes color's don't match and weapons/heads look different. I'm not a big fan of it because sometimes I'm let down when I would rather have whats shown on the box.

I dislike it too. Notice how they always give the figure a more metallic shine. Leader Prime is a culprit of that.

Actually Megs' head has a reason. Hasbro decided to modify Megatron's head at the last minute but apparently the pictures for the box had already been taken, which is why the head is so different. as for the rest of them. yeah the pics in the back usually look better than the actual toy. some even have highlights the toy doesn't have. but thats why they have the disclaimer on the box. "Actual toy and colors may vary"

You can see how, if they had kept to the head depicted on the back of the box, the face flap in jet mode w have covered it beautifully. But changing the finalised head, without bothering to rework the flap design. What a bunch of lazy b-----ds. That's about the only thing that spoilts the jet mode for me.

So is the head pictured on Protoform Starscream's package. Pre-movie, people really liked bringing that one up.

The prototype head was based on the supposed battlemask design. (Check the movie artwork for that, you'll see what I mean.)
The final decided head for the film, was what they went with for the figure.
I don't see how they did a bad thing here, I think they captured him quite nicely.

Hasbro loves their photoshopping, and lets face it, some of the movie toys really needed a lot of photoshop work to look good.

I agree with you. But I just wish they weren't lazy and changed the design of the face plate to go with the final design so that we can't see his head in jet mode.
