Quick question about names of the toy lines.

I'm fairly new to the hobby and I was a little confused about the names of a couple series of figures and was wondering if someone could clarify a little for me. I just discovered that the Family Dollar store next to where I work carries a few TFs (emphasis on a few) and I was perusing them, not expecting much. I came across a couple semi-cool looking ones (Windrazor and Doom-Lock) and I figured for $5 I'd grab them, though they were not from the two series I mainly collect (Movie and Classics). The card says nothing more than Transformers: Universe, but when I search the galleries here on Seibertron these two guys are listed as Transformers: Energon figures. How do you arrive at that series name, and what do the actual Universe figs say on the card? If that makes any sense.

They were packaged and released under Universe for Dollar Stores. Hasbro overstocked on those few molds I guess. So its a second chance at getting them for cheaper than their original price!

Universe was a line of Transformers figures that were (for the most part) repaints of older figures.

It was a quick and easy way for Hasbro to gain more money from their old molds. The figures you saw in your Dollar store are the Energon figures, just in slightly different packaging, for Hasbro to get rid of excess stock.

Most are worth a purchase.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up for me. There were a couple others there I may have to pick up as well.
