Should Hasbro Release the "Go-Bots/Rock Lords?" Should they be added to the TF Mythos?

Edit: I changed the title to reflect the Gobots, since we inevitably ended up there pretty quickly.

I always liked the Rock Lords as a kid. It seems to me, though that these days the concept was kinda silly, but for me, I always had kid bothers playing with my toys.. so I would leave the Rock Lords in a bowl on my parents living room table, and no one would mess with them.. every now and then I'd transform them and play with them when no one was around. I used to have cool battles outside with my Rock Lords as they waited for enemies to approach, they would spring into action and have a "stone aged" battle. It was like the Flintstones meets Transformers for me.. I thought the concept was kinda neat, kind of a prehistoric Transformers verse, instead of Beasts Roaming the Earth, the Rock Lords crashed millions of years before there was any organic life. Atleast that's how I imagined their story while I played...

they had vehicles and alot of cool things that went along with them..

My favorites were Bolder, Sticks and Stone, and Solitaire..

they had file cards, there were Rock Lords, Jewel Lords, and even a combiner that were fossils that combined into a T-Rex Dinosaur. I figure since Hasbro bought the Gobots from Tonka, that maybe the Rock Lords came with them..I would sure like to see updated and reissues from them.. they were cool..atleast in my book anyway.. :?

That combiner looks pretty cool, I never knew about that!

But anyway, adding them to the TF mythos wouldn't be the worst thing, but as a subplot. Maybe four or so rock guys would be ok, but any more than that the novelty wears off, and redundancy sets in.

I don't know about integration into Transformers, but releasing them on their own would be kinda cool, I'd get a couple.

I don't think that would even be possible. The Rock Lords are Bandai Japan's design I believe, they were only licensed to Tonka for domestic release. With Hasbro's acquisition of Tonka they only got the names, not the designs.

Meh, I don't know how well it'd work incorporating the GoBots into the TF mythos; I had a fanfic I was working on along these lines set within the Dreamwave/TFCC 'Unicron Trilogy' continuity, but I never got around to finishing it, or the art I was doing for it - http://jochimus.deviantart.com/art/Unfinished-TF-Art-61715805 and http://jochimus.deviantart.com/art/Ariel-Prime-53234120.

Bingo.

The only way that any Gobot will ever get even a remote appearance in any Transformers medium is the way they've already been depicted - as background characters in some of the TF comics, usually in some tongue-in-cheek reference to their inferiority, like Cy-Kill's corpse in the Armada comic.

Reissues or anything more substantial in appearance is not possible.

Or Megatron giving Bugbite the ole' headshot in the BotCon comic.

well even if they didn't have a release into the Transformers Mythos, the reissues of them would be kinda cool. It would be a novelty to my collection. Think of it, millions of years before Beast wars, the Autobots and Decepticons battle in space ends up on Prehistoric Earth, with trying to hide themselves and shield themselves from the excessive energy around them, they take on the minerals surrounding them as protection, hence the Rock Lords!!! It would be a nice little toy run on top of the already release Transformers lines. I mean what else is there to do that hasn't been done already??

We've had Beasts, and countless Robots and machine versions of our transformers, not to mention humans and monsters (head masters, ect..) I think it would be a cool change of pace and a welcome refreshing idea, that should resurface, if not but for the Nostalgia factor.. Who knows Hasbro could have a huge sell out...

I like the Gobots exosuits shown in the large picture you see above, I remember that episode as well, call them cheap imitations of the Transformers and what not, but Hasbro owns them now, and if they wanted they could rerelease the entire line under the old banner and make their money without fear of competition over their Transformers Property..

Still, i have a soft spot in my heart and an empty spot in my collection that wishes could be filled by some rocky Transformable bots.. :(

Cy-Kill makes another undignified (for him) appearance in IDW's Megatron Origin #2.

No, they can't. Bandai's got more than enough clout (at least thanks to the Asian market, not so omnipresent in the US) to jump down Hasbro's throat if something that idiotic was attempted.

The molds, the figure designs, all belong to Bandai, and that's not going to change any more than you'll see a reissue Jetfire.

here is another cool factoid about Gobots, they could be raced around a track like Hot Wheels cars and still transform!!!

I remember there was a lot of goodness in design about the Gobots, and Rocklords.. I don't see why people hate them, simply because they once rivaled the transformers??? It's stupid...Hasbro owns the rights to them now, so I hope someday they do something to make us Gobots fans proud.. heck even if they are shallow representations of transformers, those molds are almost 30 Years old, and they are still better then some of Todays minicons!!!!

If that is true, then that really sucks for the reissue dream... Damn!!! BANDAI!!!!!

No not in this life time I would rather have a rabid weasel crawl down my pants than see those guys add to transformers mythos.

I kind of thought they should have included something along the lines of rocklords or even 'plantlords' as bonus figures with some group of Beast Wars figures. Make them minicon sized drones or assistants, that would use their alternate forms to hide from the bigger bots.

I love my old rocklords, I have almost all of them. But I don't need to see them in stores again.

Well anyone that says Minicons are better really needs to check the reality of the subject first:

Also Hasbro and Takara weren't the first to employ robotech into the Transformers with their release of Jetfire, check these out:
