I was look at my energon prime the other day and released that when combine with smaller vehicle he looks like reject from the power rangers. The other question I have is what makes him so fat, I didn't think that the electioncs took up that much space.

Fatimus Prime was actually necessary for him to be able to combine with the others. But someone said that even him with his friends isn't as big as movie Leader Prime. LAME.
Apparently he is pretty fun, and he definitely has way more play value than movie Leader Prime. But Fatimus shouldn't have been called Optimus Prime. Shouldv'e been a different character altogether.

In defense of Energon Optimus Prime you have to understand the story behind him.. and granted It really could have been handled better, but there is a reason for everything..except senseless death.. that is just God being cruel and saying, HA HA see what Adam and Eve's free will did to you!! suck it up!!
anyways.....
Leader Class Energon Optimus Prime (2004)
Super class vehicle, with trailer and 4 drones who combine with Optimus prime for his super mode. Could later combine with Energon Wing Saber in two different modes, or with Energon Omega Supreme or Omega Sentinel. This toy represents Optimus Prime as he appeared in the Energon animated series and in the Dreamwave Energon comics after his upgrade at the end of Armada and was Gifted by Primus with the power of Superlink.
Optimus Prime's super mode, a combination with 4 smaller multi-colored vehicles, is most likely a homage to traditional Japanese Super Sentai super robot formations aka Power Ranger zord formations. Hasbro's Lead Designer, Aaron Archer stated at SDCC 2004 that Energon Super Optimus Prime is actually an homage to the head designer of the Voltron, who passed away prior to the creation of Transformers: Energon.

Had it not been for Skywarp-2's pic heavy review of him a while ago, I would have hated him. Now I actually don't dislike him, it's just that I'm not looking for him like I looked for movie Prime. Mind you Energon overall seems an AWESOME toyline, in particular the combiners and some of the Deccepticon voyagers and ultras. I respect Energon Prime just for coming from such an awesome toyline.

Thanks for the compliment Raymond101!! I like him too but not just because he's an awesome combiner with Wingsaber, but also because he's a homage to the deceased lead designer of Voltron, another 80s Property close to my heart...and a fitting tribute to a legendary toy maker..

Energon Prime, is nowhere near as bad as everybody makes him out to be. With a more coherent color scheme for his Prime units, he would look pretty good. I actually enjoy the combined form. And his normal form isn't as fat as you would think. He's actually pretty proportionate in person. So he has a few flaws, what toy doesn't?.
He's got a pretty cool gun, although perhaps black would have been a better color choice for the gun. He is the last Prime we would see with a trailer. The Head, has its low points but overall is a good looking head in both modes. He can hold a variety of weapons to increase his fire power.
After seeing skywarp-2's review/expose, I've become slightly obsessed with finding a Wing Saber for him. So far no luck.
But I will get one eventually.
He just looks really cool combined with him.
In any case, he's a decent figure. I think in the worst prime has to be Armada Prime. And don't get me wrong i like the guy, and he looks great combined with Jetfire. But for a Leader class figure, he could have had a lot more articulation. but was sacrificed for the lights and sounds and infrared transformation gimmick. He really had the potential to be so much more.

If his units were red and blue, I'd like him more.
Combined with Wingsaber, he's tha bomb.
But otherwise, he looks poor.
I've grown accustomed to his standard mode too. Ain't so bad.

The unreleased redeco had color-coordinated drones that made Prime much better looking in combined mode. But I still like the current version.
