are there two versions of his head? ive seen pics where theres one with red bubbles on his face and another version without the red stuff? whats the deal with this? any info is much appreciated.[/quote]

The one with red bubbles was just a prototype with a plastic defect.

Brokaw, you asked this question in the starscream thread here and a couple of us answered:

... just like in Seib's Gallery, this SS, is a prototype, Hasbro tends to alter the prototypes, to prevent unlawful selling of them. The pink blob on his face is Hasbro's attempt at discouraging the sale of this item. Lots of good that did.
