The Missile Projectile feature....Did you ever really use it??

I remember that back in the 1980s when I got my first transformers, they had a spring loaded missile section on most of the toys.. particularly the autobots above their shoulders...
Did I ever really shoot those missiles off as a kid... NO, not really, I wanted my bots to look like the caartoon as much as possible, so I almost always left the missiles in the gunpods...
The Voyager Movie Starscream brings up an excellent issue... why have the missile pods.. do you really use them to imagine your battles with?? Do they really come in handy in the aide of imagination..?? What doi you think.. should a gimmick replace functional Hands, Feet, ect... or should gimmicks be tolerated for supposed kid playability?

i don't like em, especially movie arcee's, because of the cross-bow feature, i've come pretty close to getting hit in the eye when posing her.

I like missiles. But it depends on the character itself, and in what way its epic - I'm glad Leader Megs has no projectile, yet I'd be disappointed to see Leader Prime without a projectile - I mean, Cybertron Prime had 3!
I'm happy with Ironhide's 4 missiles since the other cannon fires ion blasts, not missiles. I like arcee's converting crossbow although it is too easy to shoot out. Finally I'm disappointed with Brawl's lack of projectiles.
I wish starscream's hands and missiles were done better. Pretty crazy how he has 6 though. Not often you see that many missiles!

i used to play with the spring-loaded drill/fists on my G1 devastator

the spring tension is a bit weak, so you won't lose the projectiles easily.

but the missiles on my classics ramjet aren't fired because the spring is too strong, and the missiles could get lost easily.

firing missiles are not what they used to be. remember when i was a kid playing with gi joe fig that those were strong that they could put an eye out. nowadays missiles fall straight to the ground

. cmon, its not not parents are suing because their kids were getting hurt from the missiles.

I remember a non-TF robot I had which had spring loaded fists that could fly at least 30 feet. ( Soon lost the fists though. ) would have to be re-clasified as a air pistol these days.

Deluxe Brawl's missile flies surprisingly far. Only redeeming part of the figure.
But yeah, the only time I shoot them off anyway is when I'm trying to piss off my dog.

Definitely would test the missle/s out right off opening the transformer, just to see how far it goes. In fact, numerous figs have exceeded my expectations. Whenever a family feud ignites, I find targeting family members'(under 30) backside of the head quite satisfying. No point blank range, of course.

But i'd have to pick the missle/s right back b4 they could snap it in half...which happened 1nce, unfortunately.
Highly not recommended.

I really don't care one way or the other about the fireing missiles. Personally I like the 80's style guns were they didn't fire missiles but unstead looked more like rifles and hand guns. Heck I have my classic bb and cliffjumper posed with tantrum and headstrongs guns.

Nah not really. In fact it is more likely that I will like a TF that has a gun/cannon with no bullets then the ones that do. Sometimes the guns/cannons look more realistic without a bullet sticking out

You think that's bad, I got hit in the eye once with a BB gun...little bugger richoted off the balloon I was trying to shoot and came straight back at me.
As for TFs with firing weapons, I usually test it once or twice when I open them, just to see how well it can fire, then never the fire them again. I don't really see the purpose of them.
Although, I was having a fair bit of fun firing off Depth Charge's chest-pizzas when I opened him up.

Erm, Raymond 101..brawl has a projectile, it's a little red fire ball thing. This is deluxe btw.
Oh, and i don't usually use missiles and i don't like starscreams hands. Waaah! I would have bought him straight off otherwise. They look rubbish in jet mode.

Too many missiles can be a good thing. I lost THREE of Depth Charge's shooting discs. And i have 2 left.

I fire off my figures missiles on occasion, and they are a big hit when I have friends over when everyone is transforming a figure each.
Turbomasters are extremely popular when it comes to a missile fight.
Otherwise it has to be Attacktix, those things were made for the sole reason of firing at knee-caps, the larger 'shield' style ones hurt like hell, when they connect.

Lol I had something like that only thing it was different. Shockblast little Cannon noise feature came on suddenly when I was sleeping and it woke me up, so I took Hotshots gun and fired at him and it didn't even get to Shockblast... lucky Robot

I'm going to have to agree here. Those attaktix items are crazy powerful, the way projectiles SHould be. I have always maintained the thought that a projectile's purpose was to knock over your opponent/target. Not harmlessly bounce off with a "teehee that tickles" effect. Such projectiles then command a certain amount of respect.
As far as tf's go, i'd have to say that g2 dreadwind was awesome. 6 missles in his gatling gun, no need to reload - rapid fire action, plus 3 "bombs" under his wings you can drop give just him a total of 12 projectiles. And they go a decent distance too. add smoke jumper and now you're up to 14 projectiles

I think laser prime had more total projectiles however, but cannot fire them simultaneously.
I have never fired a shield projectile iamtrunks, but i thoroughly recommend that you take attaktix skyblast (from energon and the target movie exlusives, he is in a 4 pack in the attaktix line) and take his spear weapon, and fire it at the center of your forehead. Then compare this feeling with others you've experienced and let me know what you thought.
I really need to see one of these legendary turbomasters for myself..

I love using them to mess with my cats,
but that's pretty much it.
Most of my toy projectiles are in boxes. it's going to be hard to sort through them.

Downshift shot me in the eye once. =/
What's the dealie that all the US G1 reissues (from ebay) have
the functions disabled... while the all new line bots I get
from stores nearby can shoot all they want?
...Or are the new botlines in US also disabled?

Sorry, I meant BB gun as in the compressed air pistol kind, not BB as in Bumblebee. Had it been Bumblebee's gun, it would have been all good. As it was not that kind of BB though, I ended up with bruised and swollen eye and even got a cut from the plastic ball!
