What IDW comicbook transformers should be made, for what class size, and which series??

Edit: I modified the title, because we are vearing off in topic towards the inclusion of other comic toys being created, which is far more interesting then focusing on just one particular render..

From the great 3-D renderer, elgoodo7, over at http://www.iaconcity.com, comes the baddest villain I have ever seen!! thunderwing!!! For those who don't know iaconcity is a site where the 3D renders are done of many G-1 Transformers, and are sometimes rendered in Masterpiece format, as if to give us a 3-D representation of what our dream toys would look like given the Masterpiece Treatment...

Here is what elgoodo7 wrote on his latest greatest 3D render, which I sooo would want to beg Hasbro for a Toy of!!! I could see him Battling Prime and Megs at the same time!!

Anyways:

"I never really read the Transformers UK comics where this guy was one of the more utilized characters. In the UK comic he was a Decepticon leader who got to possess the Matrix. This was enough to get my attention. Anyway, my formal introduction to this character was in the pages of the IDW miniseries STORMBRINGER. In it, Thunderwing was "re-imagined" as a sort of semi tragic character who forsees the impending doom of Cybertron and secretly develops a way of surviving the coming catastrophe, the pretender shell. Unfortunately, he prematurely experiments on himself and basically turns him into an all powerful killing machine w/c takes both Decepticon and Autobot forces to defeat.

Anyway, I really dug the designs that Don Figueroa whipped up for this re-imagined Thunderwing (what's new?) so I figured that this would be a great way to commemorate my 100TH model set. So here you have it....Thunderwing! I took some liberties since my two basic references (the comic itself) and Don's initial design sketch differed in some ways so I had to either make up my own details of come up with some compramises. In any case, it's fairly faithful to Don't design so I hope you guys like it!"

elgoodo7

And here is some samples of his triple Changer and all around badass, Thunderwing..please let me know if he needs to become a Toy.. because I certainly think he should!!!

I don't know about you guys, but this Bot certainly deserves his day in Plastic!!!! I wants it!!!!

skinny mode and the jet alt are pretty nice, but i am still unsure on the design of the super mode. doesn't look like thunderwing to me that, and the chest being so plain is a bit rubbish. looks a bit like a SWAT/bomb squad TF actually.
A Voyager or Ultra (is that the one up or the one down from Voyager?) Class figure would be cool enough, but I'd keep him mostly in normal robot mode. There are a ton of other Don Fig designs I'd want first mind you.

If the thing could do all that the renders make it look like it could do, I'd be all over it, at any size! Of course, some wicked wepons for the bot modes would seal the deal!
Tell Hasbro about thi- no wait, scatch that. Tell Takara about this! I'm sure they would/could make the thing. Hasbro probably wouldn't do it or they would change it to have random extra patches of color and coat every surface of it in grooves and raised areas and then not paint important things like the face (I'm looking at you, whoever designed Classics Starscream! :BLACKEYE:

Ultra Class is the size of Supreme Starscream from Transformers Cybertron...I think that the chest and plain areas are where the designer, elgoodo7, took liberties as he had stated in his message...I don't know if Don Figueroa designed the supermode to that effect, buit I do like it, it looks like a pretender version of the sentinel Supremes or Omega Supremes..but an evil version..

I think that the render does a nice job of giving 3-D life into the bot and elgoodo7 also does realistic transformation videos as well, to show how it can realistically move and transform..I'm sure he has thought out the mechanics of the design quite well...yeah I would prefer Takara, but given Hasbro's recent track record with the Titaniums line, and their apparant interest in bringing us more comic book inspired designs in the future lines of Transformers Universe, whose to say that they might not do a good job with this guy..???

Waaay too detailed and intricate for Hasbro. And we have seen how much QC and overall toy quality falls the moment Hasbro tries to put detail in their figures (thanks to the Movie line).

Plus they would have to pay him to use his designs.

true, but hey could always use Don's and since the renders are heavily based off Don's art work, it wouldn't be a stretch for hasbro to come up with some innovations on their own..but yeah they pretty much suck at detail...

Actually Supreme comes in between Voyager and Supreme, think Energon Scorponok.

TF Master was working on one of these bad boys based off Energon Megatron, but I don't think he was going to end up incorporating the supermode. Sadly this one was still a WiP when he tragicly died and we never got to see the finished results or the conversion kit that he was planning on producing.

There is a new Thunderwing toy due to hit in the form of a model kit from the same line as the recently unveiled Galvatron kit, as well as a forthcoming Bludgeon. While these are likely to be non transforming versions like the Galvatron I have high hopes that the designs used will be a heavy nod towards the IDW take on the characters, but I guess we'll just have to wait for some pictures to surface to see just which direction they've taken.

While on the subject of comic designs being realised, is there anyone else who's hoping that the Universe Galvatron due next year bears more than a passing resemblance to Don's Galvatron design from the Spotlight?

That would be amazingly cool. Actually, on the subject of comic designs, I kind of wish they'd just do a subsection of Universe dedicated to nothing but comic-based toys. Heck, even call it Comics Universe or something, I don't care. As it seems that the majority of the Titanium line was pretty much comic inspired toys, and with that line seemingly dead, I'd love to see Hasbro not give up on the comic designs entirely. There's still TONS of stuff I'd love to see from the various comics made into toys, even ( and somewhat especially ) the designs from Evolutions: Hearts of Steel, the various Spotlights et al. I'd love to get a Megatron toy from Megatron Origins!

OOps, I was under the impression that was what Ultra Class was, so does that mean the Primus and Starscream are Supreme class, and Unicron is Ultra??? Because Unicron is alot bigger then Primus...

Unfortunately I was just getting started on TFMasters Library of work, when I saw that he passed away.. the world lost a great fan, friend, and humanbeing

Can't wait to see those models.. the only thing is I'm not big on plastic models, the plastic used is always very fragile..hence "Model" but I hope they get KOs made for us to buy as Toys..either way, i may just have to break down and buy it... :)

I love the IDW designs, much better to that of the overly popular and overly hyped War Within Designs and Dream Wave stuff... I think that Hasbro should work into their Universe line up alot of comics inspired figures and then as the series continues, rerelease the moldes from Titaniums, only this time in complete plastic!! that way we get the Transfromers comic series in a complete plastic line up, and not half titaniums and ect..it would then be all uniform..and a cohiesive collection

but if they do any figure from IDW comics in the up coming Universe Line up, could we get a completely large and very badass and detailed figure of Sentinel Prime???

Here is my pics:
Series 1, transformers comic series...
1. War Within Shockwave
2. IDW Bludgeon
3. War Within Mirage
4. rerelease of Rodimus Prime from Titaniums, but all in plastic
5. Rerelease of the Fallen from Titaniums, but all in plastic

Series 2, transformers comic series...
1. War Within Tracks
2. IDW Sentinel Prime
3. IDW Thunderwing
4. Rerelease of Ultra Magnus Titaniums, but all in plastic
5. rerelease of War Within Optimus Prime from Titaniums but all in plastic.. better paint applications that way..

that's all I got so far, but that would certainly make it better for us, and I believe would be hugely popular, and could be sold with a mini comic..

On the price points thing it goes:

Basic $7
Deluxe $10
Voyager (formerly Mega) $20
Ultra $25-$27, these seem to vary a bit more from retailer to retailer, never figured out why
Supreme $50

Both of the planet formers and the Hasbro version of Starscream that was upsized from the original GF version have been Supremes, the other recent examples being the two Omega varients from Energon.

Ultras include E Scorponok, Cy Scourge and the like. They're ussually a tiny bit bigger than Voyagers and are more likely to have some electronic gimmicks.

oh, so where does leader class fit into the equation???

Doh! Forgot about the leaders entirely. $40 price point covering Cy Prime, Megs & Metroplex, Movie Prime (larger version) and so on. So between Ultra and Supreme. That was totally me having a crap moment.

The larger the size class, the fewer figures made for it.
The best selling price points are scout and Deluxe, whereas many Ultras and larger warm shelves due to their higher prices.

With the amount of technology available today, all I want to see is at least one up to date G-1 Pretender toy.. that is in either Ultra, Supreme, or Leader class.. that's really all I ask.. lets do it Hasbro!! lets have Bludgeon, or Thunderwing!!!

Definately a Leader Class IDW Thunderwing. I'd buy a remolded Energon Megatron, but I'd much rather have a new toy.

After that, IDW Bludgeon. Prepretender as a Deluxe, Postpretender as a Voyager.

Then IDW Galvatron and IDW Ultra Magnus as Ultra-Class figures.

A Deluxe Origin Soundwave would be really cool.

Voyager Class Origin Megatron would be nice, but not necessary.

Surprising, not needing a Nova Prime (Leader-Class) or Sentinel Prime (Ultra-Class) that badly.

For the Beast Wars : Gathering & Ascending fans -

Torca as a voyager instead of deluxe...and they should really do away with the "love handles" that get in the way of his arms.

Lio Convoy in Voyager with the corrected shoulder mane proportion and secured to the shoulder with tabs. if they could do it with RM-22/23, why not a larger size (but smaller than the ultra-class original release)?

a much better remold of Bonecrusher and Polar Claw. i hate to see the square gap in BC's face when you remove the missile, DonFig really drew him well in the comics so i think the toymakers should really give this guy a good remold. same with Polar Claw.

i guess that are my picks for now. hope Hasbro/Takara's listening.

why, you ask?

that's why. it would be awesome to see what his alt mode would look like. maybe a Liger Zero, perhaps?

whoa, easy there, tiger hahaha. yeah, when i first saw this design while reading IDW's BW: The Gathering i was like "man, Don Fig's tEh 3l33t357 TF artist ever. isn't this like a massive homage to Liger Zero?!?!?"

i wish Hasbro/TakaraTomy would pull the stops on this one. heck, it would be easier now because Tomy makes Zoids, right? so the designers at both companies could brainstorm and find out diabolical ways to put this awesomeness together.

hey, they put out a Tit War Within Grimlock, right? no reason why they can't do this baby.

though i must disagree with your scale point though. voyager will be perfect for this, i doubt it will be be balanced if it was made leader-class (LC = Leader Class & Lion Convoy, LOL) as Lio Convoy's got humanlike legs. 8)

Voyager Class Lio Convoy and Leader Class Magmatron, both in the Cybertron modes Don designed for them in the recent IDW BW series. Leader Class Nova Prime and Voyager Class Sentinel Prime. Deluxe Class WWI Ironhide (and others probably).
