Why are reissues so expensive?

So I go looking for some G1 reissues because I could never afford the originals. I decide I'm willing to settle for the American ones that have short smokestacks and long missiles since I figure those will be cheaper.

$130+ for a Comemmorative reissue Ultra Magnus? :-x Why? Why? Through what logic does that make sense? In what backwards other dimension does a loose reissue that doesn't even completely replicate the original go for that kind of price? And you know what the worst thing is? Someone bought it for that price
So I try looking for a reissue prime with short stacks and all. $200? Are you kidding? I've seen mint, 1984 G1 Primes go for less than that. Why is it that reissues are so expensive? Isn't the whole point of a reissue to allow people like me to get G1 figures without selling a limb for it?
You guys are smart. Can anyone explain why reissues quickly become unaffordable even to the point of costing more than mint originals?

the reissues go so high because some people want to complete there collection some just end up going for the reissues instead because all the old models are perfect just rerealeased that may be a big reason also the fact that you have to pay over 300 for a misb orignal tf when u can get a reissue for a much reasonable price

You could get Encore Prime, Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave all for reasonable prices now.

The thing is not to wait. Buy them when they first come out and be happy. Those who come late to the party have to pay a higher cover charge, if you know what I mean.

Makes sense. I still think $130+ is too expensive for a shelfwarmer like Ultra Magnus though. I want the figure but not for that kind of money. If Takara makes a Hybrid Style Ultra Magnus that has the armor broken up into lots of pieces it could take advantage of articulation that's already there, Kind of like RID Prime , I would get that instead. For now though, does anyone know where to get a decently priced Ultra Magnus? I'm fine with the reissue's short stacks and long missiles but I don't want to pay more than its worth.

I don't understand why Encore Prime is selling for $60 on ePay, and Takara Book Reissue Prime is selling for up to $400. WTFHIUWT?

Two totally different animals. Sure, the toy is virtually identical but you're paying for the presentation. The book releases are just so nicely done and I believe the Primes had a more limited release. I could be wrong about that last one but they went fast even when they first came out.

Well first .......The Takara book reissues are a year or 4 older so their bound to cost more..........2nd The Takara book reissues of Prime and Megatron come with a few extras that the encore reissues dont come with.

The reissues are upgrades on the original too in some cases, such as OP painted on autobot emblem as opposed to the original sticker.

But definately shop around, I've been looking for a decent price on Prime for about 4 months now. When I see it, I'll grab it.

What do you consider "a decent price"?

I'd be willing to go 50 USD for MISB. And the price drops with the condition. I'd take loose complete too. I just want that Prime.
