Here is an image I've been finding lately across the net of a Prototype Alpha Trion for Transformers Universe toy line..it may be old news, I'm not sure, but there has been alot of buzz and chatter lately across the UK transformers sites and a few others about this particular repaint and slight remold.. I gotta say, I am really digging it!!

With the colors and the remolded face, it reminds me of a Transformers Version of Jaga from Thundercats!! I loved the Thundercats, and I wonder if Hasbro is gonna release this guy or not.. I would buy it fo Sho!!

Something tells me the current Universe will have no remolds, whereas the upcoming Universe/Classics 2.0 will have entirely new molds, and repaints of those new molds.

It has alot of the elements, but it's not gonna pass for Alpha Trion in my eyes.

Maybe A-3's brother or something like that, but not Trion

"ALPHA MAGNUS" maybe :???:

I never liked the mold when it came out in Beast Wars, not gonna like it again.

It took me a quick search over at TFU to find out who the original bot was. Not too familiar with the Beast Machines line and this is the first that I've heard of this new varient. Is it definately a proto and not a custom? It looks like the plastic's actually those colours but just thought I'd ask. If this were to show up in Universe I may well give it a miss, and Classics/Universe is about the only thing that I'm going out of my way to be completist about recently. That's at least partly because I've already got the character present among my Classics in the form of the Botcon version though. Any chance that they're planning on expanding the BW 10th line with this kind of repaint?

He's got an undeniable Leobreaker-ish feel to him, especially that tail harpoon/sword and the way the manes become hair for the robot head. And overall his entire body is very much a more rounded version of Leobreaker, perhaps this was the basis for Leo?

it's nowhere near what I'd accept as a Classics/Universe Alpha Trion, but I do like it, and would consider buying it. I like the idea of sticking him with the Magnus tag, if only because his white hair and colour-scheme remind me of Magneto from X-Men.

yeah I like the name Magnus for him as well.. he's not a bad figure, i just wish his legs extended a bit to give him a more taller and linear look, but not a bad figure, I'd buy it..He's got that Jaga look to him... maybe they should call him Kattaro Magnus or something to that effect.. it's a shame that Thunder-cat is taken, other wise he could be called that and have electric lightining powers as his thing..

See I got him when he first came out in his gold, blue and red pattern, and outside of the articulation being alittle iffy, he's a pretty good bot, with a decent transformation for a figure that has his animal legs becoming the robot arms and legs(that maim is tricky).

I didn't get his first Universe reissue cause he was to similar to the origional. Plus, I'm not a repaint fan.

I like this color scheme alot, but I just can't see giving this figure a name as revered and widely anticipated as Alpha Trion.

If he is released though I'd probably get him as at the moment, my Snarl is keeping Big Convoy's Matrix safe, so I could see that being a source for an upgrade with MAYBE some Alpha Trion influence involved.

But still, he's no Trion, I want them to do better for that figure when it happens for real

They do...

It's a good mold and cool toy, but it's no Alpha Trion.

Good toy, good mold, great paint apps.

I would accept him as a reformatted Beast Wars/Machines Alpha Trion, or the descendant of Alpah Trion quite happily, but I'm not strict on my Transformers backstory.

I don't like the head being down between the shoulders like that... Or is it just mistransformed?
