Movie Toy Line Gripe

I have nearly all the movie toys i really want, but one thing that really annoys me about them are their transformations. There are a few that are really good, like Leader and Voyager Prime, Voyager Starscream, Voyager Ratchet, and Deluxe Wreckage. The rest are in varying degrees pain in the asses. Deluxe Brawl's tracks don't want to line up right without minutes of fidgiting in tank mode. Deluxe Bonecrusher's legs are a pain to get together for the vehicle mode. Voyager Blackout needs to be transformed with care, otherwise you'll stress the plastic. Deluxe '74 BB is pretty decent, just be careful of the automorphin' hood. I still can't get Voyager Ironhide back to a decent truck mode. Deluxe Arcee is finicky in places to get back to bike mode, and Deluxe Jazz's arms are a bit of a pain at times to get into robot mode.
While I have no real regrets in getting them (and I do like them very much), there really isn't much durability in them. Some of the Cybertron figures are the same way (Smokescreen). These things should not ony look good, but they should be docile as well. Come on Hasbro.

Cybertron Smokescreen is a bit of a pain, but I like him, cause he fits with my classics.
I agree about the movie toys, just about every single one of them has some kind of pain-in-the-ass issue. I just don't see how younger kids are supposed to be able to play with them. I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent human being, and if I have this much trouble getting Barracades stupid doors to line up, what about a 5 or 6 year old?

As soon as I opened the first movie figure, I knew they were lighter and pretty skinny compared to my old TF's. It's easy to snap something unintentionally, so I just leave them on display in altmode.

THE SCALE AND AUTOMORPH FEATURES!!! i can't stand it! although the scale is as bad with the autobots.

The plastics they used is what irks me most, this line is the introductory point for many new fans and (young and old alike)old fans returning. All they are getting cheap stuff right from the get go.
No figure is it more evident on than Swindle.

I don't know, my Barricade is awesome. I have had no problems with him and he is one of the best looking Transformers I have.
The only problem I've had with the movie line is The pegs on Blackout were kinda soft and bent a little when trying to
line them back up with the slots.
I got a question about the FAB though. How do they compare to the deluxes? The packaging makes them look like they are for kids but the more I look at the Brawl the more I think I should buy it. Is it just a substandard deluxes?

all i can say is thers definately a technique.learn it.live it.love it.and if you dont than dont bother with it.but seriously thers a transforming pattern that you half to get use to the second time around i figured this out.i hear alot of people complaining about the movie line and alot of the time i dont have a clue as to what you guys are talking about.the hood automorph on bb never had that problem and i own a few of thes both models with different tabs.maybe i have the majic touch,yeah thats definately it.

i like SS's alt mode but getting there is a PITA. there are still openings in the edges of my fig in car mode. never have i done a perfect transformation of this character.

It's the nature of the designs that make the toys fragile. The attempt to make realistic alt. modes and alien looking robot modes makes them thinner and not as chunky as old Transformers.
I'm mainly disappointed with the scale of the toys, and the playability. The paintjobs could also be better, but I customize my figures anyway.
And there are some figures that I love 100% too - namely Prime, Megs, CC Bumbles, Ratchet and Arcee.

My gripe is scale. You want to make a line that shows that TFs are finally real and are actually here. Fine. But don't start that line with a guy that transforms into a truck be as big as the guy who transforms into a Primus damned jet.

my gripe is just QC...
I looked at 2 concept BB's and one's rear was tight together, while the other one had a gap. However, the one with the gap had better looking alignment at the front wheels. Either way though, i love the little guy.

I usually leave them in robot form for display, but since I am packing my things slowly to move, I have to transform most of them to their vehicle mode.
I like Barricade a lot, he is a bit of a pain gettig the doors to fit, but not as bad as some of the others.
I think the movie line could have done without the Deluxe size. they are just too fragile due to their designs as some one else already said. BB, Barricade, and all the other Deluxe's would hve been a lot better as Voyagers due to their complexity. Blackout should have been at least a leader to get his automorph to work better and be to scale.
These things just aren't good for kids, sadly. I can see these being worth a lot since most will be in the trash in a year or two. Also a shame.

I had to get another Ratchet. The right arm on mine just fell off after a couple of transformations. Sheered the post off!!! not too happy bout that one.

Yup, definitely the QC. The figure itself is not to blame, apart from the mono-colour look (which is easily customizable), Ratchet should be a solid figure.

Compaired to Cybertron, the movie line is not as fun, easier to break, and ugly as sin.
And I have yet to own a decent Bumbles.
The old un broke imeadiatly for me.
The new one has random paint on one bit and paint entirly missing on another (on the right hand side of the grill, which makes it very hard to hide), not to mention random overspraying.
None of the Movie tfs have that fun fiddle factor I came to love so much with Cybertron.

The second thing that happened to me when I got my 08 Bumblebee out of the package, I popped him in half. It's not like I was really torking on him. Anyway, he's on the shelf in robot mode and is likely to stay that way forever. I'm such a butterfingers that it's probably better that way.

I thought the scale among the autobots was ok. A whole lot better than the Decepticons. Ratchet and Jazz were ok. i can transform them back and forth with out any trouble.
The automorph feature ruins it all though. i can never figure out what they do the toy. I'm still trying to complete my autobots though

As a whole, the movie line easily surpasses all that has been done in Armada, Energon, Cybertron and Classics. The stuff is so superior, it's not even funny. It's like RID, but only much better.

In what way?
None of them are as accurate to the movie as the Cyb toys were to the cartoon (though that is to be expected).
None of them are as much fun.
Most of them are conciderably more fragile.
The Automorph gimmick is one of the worst designed set of gimmicks ever to come out.
And ALL the movie tfs are ugly as sin.
My fav 'movie' toys are the real gear, oh I wonder why that is.

Who cares about scale. What in G1 was scaled correctly or even realistic. Just cause everyone feels cheated when recreating movie scenes. Hasbro is not going to make a ton of $40 figures when they can sell a whole lot more of the $10 ones. Give them time, they will probably come out with more Leaders, and if they don't, it is because 99% of people outside of nerdville don't care about scale on them.

Accuracy is irrelevant. We're talking about the toys themselves.

Wrong. I find them more interesting. The only thing lacking in the movie line are real combiners.
Most of them are conciderably more fragile.
Learn to play with your stuff man, because I have yet to break a single Transformer.

According to what? I for one love the new look. Robots don't always have to have human faces/proportions, it's just stupid and restricting. Evolve.

They're okay, but nowhere as exciting as the real movie toys.

I don't care about 'accuracy'.
I agree with them being not as much fun.
I think their fragility is in the nature of the new alien look of the toys rather than their blockiness. So this will be a subjective thing.
Automorph is pretty cool for me. Interesting and worthwhile. Not all figures work, but it was a good concept that might be expanded further. I agree that they should have had more gimmicks. Automorph isn't epic enough for such a big time in Transformers franchise. I thought Cyber Keys and Mini-Cons and Energon weapons were the bomb.
Ugly as sin? Why do we care? They're aliens. One thing that bothered me about all the old lines was that the Transformers all looked like humans in transforming mecha suits. The sooner we depart from projecting our own fantasies onto beings that are clearly meant to be extraterrestrial aliens, the better (one reason why I really like the Megatron of this movie - so sinisterly alien its almost unrecognizable).

id also like to agree with megatroptimus the movie line is wayyy better than the other lines the toys them selves may be more fragile but its the same type of plastic just molded thinner.
to be more realalistic and compare more to the movie characters.and them being "ugly as sin" thats the first time i have heard that.i think there the best looking robots that any company has ever come out with.now this is just my opinion and im not forcing it on no one.but you half to think hypathetically if ther was such a thing as transformers they wouldnt look all blocky instead they would take on the look of the movie bots.
