the 6" titaniums are armed to the teeth with twisty ties.... who else has been annoyed by this? whats with the security.... i mean, its not like people are gonna open em on store shelves and steal them. or if its because they dont want the fig to get messed up, why dont they just keep it in one big form fitting plastic mold to keep the fig in place, like how they do in the masterpiece line.... which probably wont help since the titaniums already come paint chipped on every corner. whatever. for the record, fallen's paint application is terrible, scrapes off too easily. sorry for the rant. down with twisty ties !

tom, you should do a report on twisty ties, me, i think hasbro doesnt even want you to have it, so they seal it like its hannibal lecter

Actually that's exactly why the twisty ties came into being. It was too easy to steal the toys from the boxes before their inclusion.

Ever notice Empty G1 boxes sitting in the shelves back in the 80's???

The twisties on the Titaniums are the worst. They're thicker wire than the regular figures, and the wires are twisted super tight right up to where they're cut. I actually keep a pair of needlenose pliers in my Transformers room to help bust these guys out.

When I got my Leader Brawl, a couple of the big twist ties were actually TIED IN KNOTS. That was pretty rage-inducing.

EXACTLY! where they tie em up super tight then cut it off so there no leeway wire to untwist em. it took me 10 minutes to get one of fallen's guns out because i couldnt find a pair of scissors around the house .

so what happened excactly with the explosion of twisty ties? was there a toy law passed to there could be twisty ties for all?

I feel your pain. Voyager class bots are pretty bad too. Especially when they like to hide a couple in the plastic shell and not thread them out the back of the cardboard insert. I think my movie Starscream is free and....nope, two more. DANGIT

Another Hasbro packaging gripe of mine are the clear bands on the Alts and even on SW figs. You have to pick them out of articulated joints when you get them out of the package...pretty frustrating sometimes.

The real problem I've seen, is that occasionally these ties are so tight that they damage the paint on the figures.

The reason they have so many ties on the Titanium figures is so they don't fall apart in the package. They want you to get home and open it before you realize you just blew $15.99 plus tax on a piece of garbage.

theres a better way to do this.... i kinda explained it in my first post. but if you seen masterpiece packaging, or even pepsi prime, then youd know what im talking about. its something like a huge plasitc tray that conforms to the figures shape then another tray added on top to hold it into place.... kinda like two pieces of plastic sandwiching the figure inside. no need for twist ties because the two trays held together by the box or tape wont allow the figure to move. seems cheaper too to do too.

i got a couple of these too.

I remember the fun I had with WW Titanium Prime, did not notice the two ties wrapped around his shoulders so when I tried to extract him I ended up with a armless Prime!!

I know the packaging you're talking about - I have the Masterpiece OP. It does work much better - but only for non-clear boxes. The Titanium figures are packaged in clear boxes, so the second tray on top wouldn't look as attractive.

I think they should use the clear rubber bands that're used with the 3 3/4" Star Wars figures.

I think the Alternators-style packaging is relatively harmless,
to both the toy's welfare, and the buyer's poor, rawed digits.
If they could find a way to use that style packaging across
the board, there'd be a few happier collectors and children...
and parents.

Well, I will agree that the Titanium Fallen did have a crapload of twisties in it, but I just used a set of modellers clippers, and snip snip snip, and I was done relativley quickly. I didn't find any paint scraping (nor did any of the parts on him fall off either...)

The twist ties must be punishment for all the bashing we do to Hasbro =(. Bought WW SS and Rodimus 1 day and I spent 15 min trying to get all 500 ties off, my fingers hurt so much afterwards. No amount of beer could cure the hurting.

The plastic trays like how some of the movie figs came? Or like the old Ninja Turtle plastic trays?

The thing that really gets my goulies at the moment is the clear plastic bands the figures have all over them. trying to find the buggers is harder than finding an American who knows how to play cricket!

So, back to twisties... I'm tryin to remember when they started kicking in... Did Beast WArs toys have them? I remember the Ultra sized toys having maybe 5, and very simple to take off...
