Are Alternators/Binaltech and Masterpiece in scale?

Now, I know Megatron was made to be in scale with Optimus's robot mode, so that aside... are Starscream/Skywarp and Optimus Prime/Ultra Magnus somewhat in car scale with the Alternators/Binaltech? Just curious...

Kind of.
I think I remember reading that Prime is 1:22nd and the alts ar 1:24?
So, Prime is a bit bigger than he should be.
It is NOT however, something that is noticable since Prime really isn't even in scale with himself...

It has to do with the size of his wheels and chasis compared to the size of the cab.
What do I look like some kind of scientist of math guy?

I think Prime and the Alternators/Binaltech are close, but I wouldnt say perfect in scale.
Megatron is in scale as a figure to Prime, and to scale with humans transformed.
Starscream/Skywarp? I've worked on F-15's in the USAF, I dont have an MP Seeker as of yet, but I think they MIGHT be close. The jets just seem so much larger than life when you're next to one, but I never saw a big rig up next to one...fuel trucks yes....I'll make a more educated answer once I get Starscream this Fall.
HEY, that gives me an idea!!! Why doesnt each Seeker have some sort of "fuel truck" side kick/ lackie to be with him?!?! Give them somebody to use and abuse when Megs dumps on them...

Prime is sorta in scale with BTs/Alts but like Counterpunch said it's debatable. Megatron was made to match Primes height in robot mode, his gun mode is oversized and bigger than a real life P.38 pistol. The Jets are not to scale with Prime or Alt/BTs, to do that they have to be flipping enormous. In Robot mode they are possibly a little smaller than they should be compared with Megatron (but only slightly) and quite a bit bigger than BTs/Alts.

Ask the other you! Maybe HE knows. You never know. By that I mean one can never tell. Which one are you anyway? Punch or Counterpunch? That could be a mystery too... Augh, my brain hurts!

yup pretty close.... its hardly even noticeable when most of the figures are next to each other.

I'm not quite sure why, but I think that's an awesome idea.

Oh, Ok. That's all I wanted to know. I was just wondering if MP Prime would look out of place next to my Alt. Jazz

Not at all. Prime's a smaller scale, 1:25-1:26 or so, than the Alts/BTs (1:24). In alt mode you can almost tell the difference, but in Bot mode, he's a perfect fit.
The jets are a much smaller scale than the ground vehicles. Megatron of course, was just made to stand toe-to-toe with Prime.
The BT figures were no doubt intentionally designed to compliment the MP's. 1:24 is just a very standard scale for making model cars. I'm sure Takara had their reasons for going with the larger scale for them.

So, what scale is Starscream in then?

Hell it'll be easy enough to figure out...
How long's an F-15? 63.8 ft = 765.6 in
The toys about 12.5-13 in long.
1/61 and some change...
So I'd say they're going for 1/60 scale.

1/61?? That's amazing... I build Gundam model kits, and their perfect grade series are 1/60 in scale, I could use Starscream in scale with them! (The Perfect Grade RX-78Gp01Fb has a hanger with it, that would be so cool with Starscream)

The MP and BT robot modes are all to scale with eachother. OTOH only the BT car modes are to scale with the rest. The MP alt modes all have some degree of mass shifting going on.

Now consider that most Hotwheels/Matchbox cars are on a roughly 1:64 scale. Granted its not the same as 1:60, but consider just how much mass shifting went on on both sides in the G1 universe.
Of course, you have to consider that there's a lot of indiscretions with the size of the G1 characters in Bot mode. My favorite example is the season two episode with Devcon. In that episode, Smokescreen stands just a head taller than an Alien, however, when he transforms, the alien has no trouble climbing into the passenger compartment seat and going for a ride. Either Smokescreen is able to shift his alt mode to a larger size, or he shrinks when he turns into a robot.
Don't like this example: Try cramming a Marvel Legends figure into an Alt.

Or with the Macross transformable Veritechs/Valkyries! They have 1/60 figures.

For one, I don't like the scale of the MP Seekers. Don't really match with any of the MPs or BT/Alts in any mode. They could have made it more or less in scale with MP Prime or Meg in robot mode at least, when Starscream and Megatron is very similar in size in robot mode, maybe a tad shorter. But he is now a lot smaller than that, yet big enough to tower over all BTs. Kind of in between in a whay that don't quite fit in.

The Seekers were pretty much taller than all the original [season one] G1 Cast of characters outside of Prime and maybe Ironhide. For the most part, they were about a head taller in most episodes. I'd say that in Bot mode they're just about perfect scale with the alts.
Still, I agree that the Seekers could've been taller for the MP line, but then I'd be paying 120 a piece for them.
The fact of the matter remains, however: if you want a sleek, great looking jet that turns into a equally sleek, if not entirely G1 accurate seeker, the MP line has you covered. Skywarp has put a lot of pressure on the upcoming Starscream.
