I've seen talk that having a spring loaded weapon cocked all the time can/will weaken the spring. How much of an impact does this actually have in the long run?

i keep mine out unless they are to make the character right like classic starscream other than that a lot of g1 missle launchers dont work from overuse so its better to not use em too much imo

id never heard that before - all my transformers with misiles have them loaded at all times. I find it helps me keep all the pieces together.

I lost a lot of turbomaster missiles as a kid so keeping them all in one place and the toy complete is the priority for me

It actually does happen. A great example is M-16/4 maint.
It is advised to dissasemble your magazine, pull out the spring, and stretch it. Having 28 rounds crammed in it constantly will cause it to malfunction from the lack of pressure the spring will be able to produce. The same fact applies to TF ammo. Keep the missle in = weak spring. :-?

Rigth now I'm leaving the missles in the barrels but not pushed to click point, with the ones that I can. I've been keeping them pushed in on Classics Jetfire, Movie Arcee and Transmetal Depth Charge, but I guess I'll have to store them next to the figure or something now.

I keep them in a bag, unless they're Lightsaber/Missles or Seeker's missles.

Movie Arcee's missle goes on that thing on her shoulder, you should notice something sticking out on there, when the wheel is pointed over her "breasts".

I never heard this. I only keep them loaded if they are suppossed to be loaded to look right ie classics seekers or Encore Soundwave.

If that's the only reason you have them loaded, I've found that a big 1gallon baggie with all paperwork and stray missiles works really well.

I leave them in. I don't use the launcher mechanism on any of my toys anyway, so as long as the missile stays locked in place I could care less if the spring croaks. My original G1 Starscream springs are shot but he still holds the missiles and bombs just fine.

I actually keep most of my G1 guys packed up, each in individual bags with their weapons, accessories, etc. As for keeping the ones' out loaded, no because they occasionally become possessed and shoot across the room on their own. That just leaves them subject to becoming dog food.

All my ammunitions and missiles never came out of the packaging. I find them useless and unattractive. Also, makes the weapon unrealistic to have such big ammunition.

Except for the Classics Seekers.

Yeah! They should left loaded on the Classics Seekers when posed in robot or alt modes.

Yes. Those were not supposed to be missiles. Should have been barrel of the guns.
