Armada Hot Shot question... (topic gravitated to Armada Prime discussion)

A friend of mine picked me up a free Armada Hot Shot at a garage sale today (just cause he knows I like Transformers)... He didn't come with ANY of his engine, missiles, or minicon partner, but I'm not concerned about any of that...

I have a Final Battle Optimus Prime, and I could've sworn that there was a way to turn Hot Shot into some sort of 'cannon' for Optimus' Super Mode... Am I imagining things here, 'cuz I can't find anything to show me how to do it...

Thanks to anyone who can help me out...

(Oh, he also got an Armada Demolishor (no minicon either), and a G1 Ramjet... Well, only the body (and he's missing his nose cone as well!) All-in-all, pretty neat to get off work & get a phone call saying that someone picked you up a couple of free Transformers!

I've never heard of Hotshot having a weapon mode and I've got both the regular and PL versions, just can't see any way that would work. Are you thinking about Overload? He becomes a weapon system that will combine with Prime's super mode and the trailer's base mode.

You're probably right, maybe it was a fan mode? All I think I remember is that Hot Shot somehow fit behind Super Mode Prime's back & Hot Shot's cannon stuck up above Prime's head...

Again though, I may be completely mistaken though... (were there any other Armada TF's that combined with Prime other than Jetfire & Overload? -Man, if ONLY I had him... I always thought that figure was cool combined with Prime!)

The regular A-Optimus Prime has a big space between his back and the end of the "truck pants", large enough to accomodate some deluxe figures of the line. Remy is a bit "creative" when it comes to this, take a look at his Act 32 Gallery: Armada Optimus Prime It's at the very end.

Well I guess it is possible then. Doesn't actually look all that bad either.

Ah, thank you JelZe! Thought I was losing it for a second, but I'm pretty sure that's where I saw this set-up... Creativity is a wonderful thing, but damned if they shouldn't say that it's a fan-mode in their gallery to stop stuff like this from happening in the future!

Thanks again, now I'm off to work!

That's pretty cool, I didn't know you could do that.

Wow.. that looks awesome. Too bad Armada Prime has been quite the elusive figure to me.

Really? I've got a Powerlinx Prime I've been wanting to sell....no Corona Sparkplug, but other than that it's complete. $20+ shipping. PM me if you're interested.

Oh, & to keep on topic, that's pretty neat, I didn't know Hot Shot could do that. I still think Overload looks better on him, though.

On the topic of Armada Prime, was there ever a Nemesis Prime repaint of the Leader-class (Super-class back then) version of Prime? I swear I saw one once in Target but when I came back to finally buy he wasn't there anymore.:(

Nope. Just the deluxe ($10) class. I guess they figured they didn't need both a dark gray repaint of Prime & a dark blue one of the same mold.

Yet I could swear I saw it. Must've gotten mixed up with the PL repaint -- it was back when I was just getting back into Transformers so my knowledge at the time was limited.

Heh, I got back in during RID myself. I have almost the entire Armada line, I think I'm only missing the K-mart gold cab Prime & Jetfire. Nothing special about it, though. They just took both original paintjobs & took Prime's cab & painted it kinda of a bronzy-gold where it was red...the same color assome of his gold details on his trailer.

But to be fair, the PL Prime & Nemesis are pretty close in colorscheme, so it'd be easy to get them confused.

I've managed to cobble together a decent Armada/ML collection. I actually got back into Transformers at the start of Energon -- now that's one line where I'm missing very few figures. As for Armada, I'd still like to get my hands on a ML-Shockwave, ML-Super Megatron, and A-Skywarp.

Now I wish I had gotten myself that Hotshot for €3 back then, stupid me buying something to eat instead.

Yeah, I really like the look of Powerlinx Prime's Super mode with Hot Shot as a backpack cannon, but now I kinda think that'd look better with the Hot Rod repaint, especially with my Prime being colored so darkly (as seen in the images Nemesis Cyberplex posted), and the BRIGHT yellow sticks out quite a bit...

Gah! I suddenly find myself wanting an ML Convoy with the yellow rather than gold detailing to add this combination to my Armada Prime collection. Will I never be able to stop buying Armada Primes? When will it ever end?

Once you have every single variation multiple times!

I'm only missing the original Japanese release and the two pack gold cabbed version. The more common Hasbro varients I've already got several times. I just like the whole bushido look that the supermode has, even more so with the Jetfire pants.

I'm so happy that I bought my Prime figure from another TF fan here on TFW2005, as I purchased Powerlinx Jetfire with him... I absolutely love their combined form, and will be seeking an Overload for him sometime, but I'm not sure if his red coloring would mesh well with Prime being so dark... But that's gonna be a little further down the line, when I can afford to pick up older figures again (as the movie line is sucking up all my spending cash these days!).

You could always try the blues and whites of the Energon Magnus repaint instead.

Heh, yeah, if you don't mind the hefty amount you'ld be paying for its rarity. Last time I remember seeing one of those it was going for nearly $100 on Ebay. & that was a few years ago. Since the movie & the collector explosion that followed, there's no telling how much it'd be now.

I remember that image from Remy's Gallery, it's the fun Hotshot Backpack thing..!! it was cool, because you could pretend Super Optimus Prime was hidin Hotshot to use at the last minute as extra help... It was a cool feature.

I own the Magna Convoy version by the way, and he is badass!!!

I wish YTakara Tomy would do a Revised version of him someday, with his stomach and legs able to bend with a stand to make him look lik he's suspended above the ground in flight , so I can pose him like he is on the box art!! that would be really cool!!!

Skywarp-2: That set does look pretty spiffy... Is that a regular Overload then? Does his colorscheme work well with Powerlinx Optimus Prime?

The Magnus in the Magna Convoy pack is easily (to my mind) the coolest version of the mould. Clear plastic on the red and grey areas but in a darker tone than any of the other red versions. Limited to 1000 pieces from TRU Japan in the same manner as the God Fire Convoy set. The colours on the Final Battle Convoy are better than the Hasbro PL version as well.
