The protoforms were promotional figures, so-called "Movie Previews". I say it's done.

then only way to see bumblebee protoform is in the battle card game as well as dreadwing, longarm, and all other movie designs for ones that didn't make the cut.

thats too bad. the prime and ss protoform were undersized. I wish theyd gone with at least voyager size. or if deluxe, gone with bumblebee or jazz

In my opinion there shouldn't be anymore Protoforms. I'd much rather Hasbro focus that time and energy into making worthwhile Transformers.

Here here. I liked the protoforms when they first were released, and after a number of very disappointing Deluxe class movie figures, I'd almost call more protos an improvement. Really though, Hasbro should release the last wave of the voyager figures or pump out a couple more good leader class toys and then move on.

I'm sorry, I'm bitter. I really was supportive of the movie designs and the toys and the whole 9. I gave it every chance, and just got burned over the weekend by 08 BB and Longarm, and I will not support the movie line any further in any size smaller than voyager. I put it off for so long, and wouldn't acknowledge that I am disappointed with this line. If you like them, awesome, I'm not trying to hurt anyones' feelings about these toys or make people feel like their opinions don't matter. But I feel stupid for having supported this line for so long when all it really did was let me down. Even the Real Gear figures....some of them were cool, and the rest were total crap. I know the movie has caused a huge expansion in the fanbase, but man alive, if these figures are the first TFs you've collected you have no idea what you've missed.

Sorry, sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to rant, but I am really really let down.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more protoforms (redecos or remolded heads) as Botcon exclusives, seing they're not licensed designs or anything unlike most other movie figures that are based on real vehicles. At least Protoform Jazz, Protoform Ironhide and Protoform Ratchet, as seen in the movie.

For some reason I could see this happening. Which would be great because I care so little for the protoform figures. It would also be kinda sucky, seeing as there are only 2 protoform molds to make another 3 from...

Weren't all Autobot protoforms in the movie the same anyway?

Protoforms are cool, better looking than some mainline movie figs like Ratchet and Jazz.

That's not what a bazillion of people who saw the movie multiple times told me on tfw2005. Just look at Ironhide when he comes out of the swimming pool. Same design as Protoform Prime (at least for the feet and legs).

well if they do make more protoforms than they should go with a cybertron vechicle like megatron. really all they are now is astroids with con trails. if you watch the first episode of transformers bumbelbee is like a half plane half bug.

All of them were flaming squid balls falling out of the sky.

That's after you flash a Batman lightbeam into the sky, with the logo replaced by Autobot symbol.

Eloquently phrased and quite accurate. ;)^

Yet another thing for me to look out for next time I catch the movie. I thought that was Optimus in the pool. I also thought there were different autobot protoforms. Not something I paid the biggest amount of attention to though.

Out of curiosity, how were you burned by 08 BB and Longarm (2 figures I've yet to acquire). Also what are your criteria for a good TF, and what series would you point to as a shining example?

I, for one, have a misgiving towards Longarm. I had him at the top of my wish list for a long time. (Just below Leader Brawl) He was awesome to look at in the pictures.

When i finally got him, yes, he looks awesome. The truck mode is not too accurate, but still a good one. The robot mode is a winner.

But the problem lies in his transformation. Going from truck to robot is good. But reversing the process is a total disaster!

He simply won't come together as a truck. If you push one part in, another will come off. It's simply impossible to get him back into one piece truck. I've spent 4 to 5 hours just trying to pull all parts together. But to no avail. The one and only time i saw him in complete truck mode was right out of the box. And that's the last time ever.

My Longarm is Japanese version. I don't know if the problem lies with the Longarm design itself, or the Japanese make quality.

I've never encountered this kind of frustrating problem with all my US version Movie toys. I have 13 US Movie toys so far.

So maybe it's a Japanese problem. I don't really know until i try one US Longarm.

Hey, reading your post makes me really want to get Longarm. Maybe it'll be frustrating, but it sounds like a challenge. I'll have to see if I can get him into truck mode.
