Real Gear High Score 100 Review

One word: ADORABLE.

Alt mode (video game controller):

The detailing on this mode is fantastic!
"rubber" grips, analog sticks (they actually move!), a plethora of buttons that would appease any "shoot 'em up, kill everything in sight!" gamer.

The Autobot symbol is simple, looks nice in black and it's unobtrusive, so it actually looks nice in it's placement.

The underside, however, is a slightly different story. Granted, it looks like it does because he's intended to transform and that side of him is for the robot mode, but it's such a clash from the other side of the alt mode and how realistic it looks.

Overall, he really does convey the wireless controller look quite well, in fact, you could probably confuse him as a controller for one of those keychain games you see at Wal-mart.

A solid :BOT: :BOT: :BOT: :BOT: :BOT:

Transformation:

1.) Push lever (L and R buttons swing forward to create the chest/shoulder assembly, head pops up into place)

2.) Swing directional pad/left arm and function buttons/right arm forward into place (moves in same direction as the L/R button setup) swing the section with the grip around to form forearms

3.) Unhook Pause/Select/Rumble button area (waist of robot mode) and pull forward, then pull down to expose the spine (there's an actual spine made of out gray plastic that will let him stand upright, not just folding in half for gorilla mode) NOTE: This spine part is not in the instructions, I found it by accident, but it is actually part of the mold and the transformation. The instructions only have you push the waist forward for the gorilla mode.

4.) Swing Analog sticks/leg assemblies forward (same direction as the chest and arms), swing grips down to form ankles, turn the pads around to form feet

Overall, he folds and unfolds into his transformation, rather than flip this piece, insert here, etc. Still, that doesn't detract from the figure, and I have to give it another:
:BOT: :BOT: :BOT: :BOT: :BOT:

Robot Mode (Gorilla, Ninja):

Posable, definitely posable.
Head turns left and right, up and down.

Arms have full rang of movement in the shoulders, elbows. (No wrist articulation)

Waist moves left and right.

Legs have almost full range at the hips (slightly hindered by the design of the pelvis), knees bend (no side to side movement), feet can be moved up and down, left and right on a ball/socket setup.

Looks like a ninja (even has the mask/headdress) and stands up straight with massive "I'm going to beat you" arms, but so small he's still adorable. The cutest ninja around.

The gorilla mode is even cuter. With his massive arms, head placement and stubby little legs (folded up) he looks like a Robosapien gorilla (and that's quite cool in my book)

Overall, I also have to give this mode a solid:
:BOT: :BOT: :BOT: :BOT: :BOT:

I highly recommend him to anyone (kids will definitely have fun with this guy), his detail's incredible, he's adorable and he's now gotten me addicted to Real Gear (oh yes, I will own them all...except repaints...)

He is (I think...) the highest rated TF figure I've given a review for, in a long time.

Go scrounge around for $8.00+ and buy him. You won't regret it.

Yes, you finally succumbed to the Real Gears!

You think High Score is awesome? Wait til you get your hands on Meantime.

I think I got a defective one. The top buttons that drape over his shoulders in robot mode will NOT stay connected--they just fall off. Really annoying. Anyone else have this problem? ....or a possible fix?

I absolutely love him too. So cool looking, and I think he resembles a football player too. Notice the padding on his chest.

Spyshot is really awesome. I'd suggest getting Meantime and Highscore next, and maybe the mp3 player birdy.

You got 2 of the best 3/4.

Grab Meantime, he is the best figure in the line, and I also really like Speed-Dial. Booster X 10 and Longview are good value too.

I got High Score last night and I really like him - the best of the real gears taht I have. I also REALLY like the repaint of Speed Dial (Wire Tap V20) - he's much more detailed in the paint job than the first.

Grabbed High Score today at Target for 6.99... you guys are right... that gorilla/xbox controller is just so damn cute.

He will go great sitting next to my actual game controllers...

lol, then just be careful when you're a bit tired, but feel like playing xbox or something... and you hold a "wireless" controller, which has no reaction to the analog stick/s and no matter how many times you press the START button, it doesn't budge at all... xD

do not get mad and hammer it, just to see that it was poor High Score, and not a game controller :P

You're not alone. What I did to get them to stay is be very careful with a drop of super glue...there's a triangular "point" on the grey plastic that slides into the wedge-shaped opening on the chestplate...I put the glue on the white and stuck it to the grey, then rotated it side to side until I felt teh glue was dry.
