I've seen at least 4 different auctions for custom LED lightbars for Barricade on E-Bay recently. Anyone ever do this conversion before?

Doing one for my son's Barricade as we speak actually :D
So far so good...the hardest part is adjusting the LED without breaking the connection.

Cheers!

if you're the guy who posted that little movie with Barricade and the light bars flashing a month or two ago,....that thing kicked all kinds of ass.

Yup, that was Jin. For those who dont know, Jin's done an guide on how to do the modification in the fan-fiction/artwork/kitbash forum.

I've seen kits from him and a couple of others. It looks like they are all the same kits.

Bhaalistik, does it all attach to the underside of the roof or is there more wiring involved?

I don't know about all your guys' Dollar Tree stores, but we've searched three of them here and can't find that damn flashing whistle anywhere. I tried substituting something else from there with flashing LED's, but it hasn't worked out so great. I've seen some of those kits on ebay going for 7 or 8 bucks before shipping, so I'll try Radio Shack before I break down and get a "kit", which is just the gutted flashing whistle.

they are abundant at the dollar trees near me (as early as a week ago). i don't mind picking some up for people who don't have access to them.

For those of you who haven't seen it:

He's also got a "how to" on his site.

Yep, all the credit goes to Jin; using his guide as well.
Even found the lightbar where he said it would be, at Dollar Tree for .99 :D

So I got it hooked in...and of course one of the LED conections snaps (insert all sorts of swearing here).
Would have been cheaper to just go get another one, but no...I goto Wally world get a soldering iron for 10 bux (needed one anyways)..and lo and behold what do I find on the shelves?

Thundercracker, Rescue Ratchet and Concept BB (x2) Woohoo!

So the LED bar is drying right now in Barricade's roof...HOPING it will withstand the daily handling and the on/off pushing of the button as well

Cheers!

That looks simple enough even I can't screw that up. I'll have to try that.

Yep...pretty straight forward. If your LED lead breaks, like mine did, then it's a little more work than it's worth I think.
Still, comes out pretty cool..I would try it again 8)

Sorry about unearthing an old thread here, but has anyone tried to light up a Recon Barricade? I finally got a second one and I'm curious if anyone else has tried it already.

In theory it'd work the same way except I don't know what colors you'd get since recon is not red and blue on top.

I suppose you could buy 2 of the light kits and solder a blue one in place of the red one so you have dual blues on top (time consuming, but not that hard)...from there it's easy.

That's what I was thinking about. I just wondering if anyone had done it yet.

I still want to do that conversion, but all the cheapo bargain bin type stores in my area have nothing even remotely close to the whistle required to perform such a task... I've been keeping my eyes open since Jin first posted the "how to", but thus far no luck
