DropKick love thread-review with pics

Well I was able to score a couple new Deluxe TF's this weekend and one of them I was pretty surprised by how cool he was, so I figured I'd take some pics and stuff. I looked for him in the gallery but didn't see him, and I can't search the threads lately, so if this has been done to death my apologies. Just thought he was pretty cool so sharing about him seemed the thing to do.

First up:

Name: DropKick
Allegience: Decepticon

Found in Transformers:The Game

Str: 6
Int: 4
Spd: 6
End: 8
Rnk: 3
Cou: 5
Fir: 5
Skl: 4

Bio:
Dropkick didn't want to come to Earth, but Megatron made him. He'd rather stay home on Cybertron sitting in the dark and being angry, but Megatron has him hauling materials all over this lame planet. He doesn't even know why the AllSpark is so important, or why the Autobots need to be getting in his way all the time. He just wishes everyone would leave him alone. Still, while he's here, he might as well blow some stuff up, that's always fun.

So first is his alt mode, a grey and purple pickup truck with a really cool, really large Decepticon logo on his roof and hood.

Image

This was the first thing I noticed about him and thought it was really cool. I've never seen a D/con logo so large on a toy before. He's a nice looking sporty truck with smoked headlight lenses and tinted windows. All 4 tires roll on the ground with no problem and he's pretty sturdy feeling.

Image

Image

Image

Only thing I didn't like about the truck, was in the bed of the truck is his weapon, which is basically a giant pair of pliers. In the bed of the truck is a little grey knob. Push it towards the back of the truck and turn it slightly and it lowers the tailgate, extends the pliers and opens them up.

Image

Not the worst gimmick I've seen, but still a little lame.

Now for Robot mode:

I really enjoyed the tranformation from alt to robot. Not over complex by no means, but still fun. And he produces a really decent looking bot with a few things I really like, which is why I'm gonna tell ya about him.

First is that you can fully transform his legs without effecting the rest of the truck at all. Hence, Mech-Truck!

Image

I don't know why, but I really dig planes and vehicles with legs. It's just bizarre and really cool looking to me. So right away I'm digging the guy. Giant logo? check. Mech mode? Check. Pretty cool so far. He also has toes like Barricade that stick up, another thing I find cool.

Image

In robot mode I'm treated to a really cool looking headsculpt with a Prime'ish face shield. Another thing I really like, face shields. And he also has these 2 little antennea *sp?* that stick up next to his head. A little thing, minor detail, but it adds to the overall cool look of his head to me.

Image

Another thing I really enjoy about him is that he has door wings. Not sure why, but I love TF's with door wings and tires on thier shoulders. These guy has both.

Image

He's pretty posable even though he features StarScream'ish chicken legs. They do actually work with the look of this figure. His hands are fists with undermounted double cannons on each arm, which I also found rather cool looking.

His weapon is the one thing I just find a little cheesy. You lift out the box that's in his truck bed and this is what seems to become his weapon. It sits in his fist easy enough, but it presents balancing issues as well as just seems to large and boxy. Boring really, and kind of cheesy.

Image
Beware My Pincer Arm Of DOOM!!!

Image

Displaying him in bot mode I've just been putting his "weapon" to the side. Since he's got 2 underarm mounted guns anyway he hardly looks defenseless.

All in all I've found him to be a really fun TF and I was surprised by that. All the things I like; large logo, purple and grey, mech mode, face shield and antenea, door wings and tire shoulders, it all added up to a really unique and interesting figure to me.

I'd give him an 8 or 9 out of 10. And even then I'm only deducting a point or two because his weapons just so damn cheesy.

Hope you all enjoyed the review, it's kind of my first. But for $9.99 US I think he's a great figure and one to surely not pass up on, you'll regret it.

Cool, I'm glad the review helped. I don't think you'll be disappointed at all with him.

Meant to add he's actually a lot more purple then he looks in these pics.

He's a deluxe sized figure. (*thought I mentioned that)

I don't have Ironhide so I can't compare, but I'll take a pic of him with some others.

I plan on removing the blasters on his arms and replacing the capture claw with missles, and maybe a machine-gun.
also repainting.
also trying to add a scythe and evil wings. those reverse joint legs do kinda make him look like a demon.

He's like a Ford Ranger size in comparison to Ironhide being the big deisel. They look OK together, but they're certainly out of scale if they're both supposed to be heavier-duty trucks.

I wish he could put his guns down... :-(

It's like with Wolverine: 'Sir, put the knives DOWN!'

'I can't...'

I'll pass on Dropkick... simply cuz I personally don't like the giant Decepticon logo, I don't like the purple, and I don't like the giant flatbed weapon.

Nice review though.

Believe it or not... Dropkick is my favorite Decepticon in the movie toy line only 2nd to Leader Megatron. He is just so awesome to transform. Also... you can actually fully transform him and still keep his arms in vehicle mode. It makes him look like he has blocks on his arms (ala Rumble style).

Very neat toy... and not to mention the truck is cool. Also all 4 wheels roll nicely unlike the other toys. I was so anxious for a deluxe Barricade... yet when I bought Dropkick... it eased my anxiety. And not only that... by the time I actually found Barricade I was actually dissapointed with it. It wasn't as good quality as Dropkick. Just thought I'd share some of that Dropkick love, lol.

Compared to Ironhide, Dropkick is smaller...

DorkusPrime was right. Dropkick's scale is fine if he's considered a small Ranger/S10 pickup and Ironhide is a full size, extended cab, beast of a truck. Dropkick is almost identical in size to Jazz in alt mode length & width wise, but DK's cab roof is about 1/4 of an inch higher than J's roof.

Both Ironhide & Dropkick are sold in their alt modes...with the restocks I'm sure you can compare for yourself soon enough, if not now...

Thanks, but i need more time to think about this...if ironhide is bigger than dropkick....i'm guessing dropkick's alt mode will be a little shorter than ironhide's. if he is to small for a pickup (or whatever it's called), i won't get it, i like the movie tfs but some may need (ok hasbro needs to) make the scales about right.
