Me Grimlock Bootleg!

Thanks to my officemate, and fellow CybPH member, Hellrazor for an awesome surprise.
He gave me this old Grimlock bootleg this morning!
I remember when these bootleg Dinobots came out years ago. I still feel like kicking myself for not buying some of these. The colors may be a little off, and the plastic is your typical brittle bootleg quality, but it still looks good!
T-REX MODE
As you can see, Grimlock is pretty solid and stable in T-rex mode. The whole design is pretty faithful to the cartoon version, and while the colors were changed, the head still retained the original color.
Another noticeable change would be the arms. Or as Grimlock would say it "Me Grimlock have beefy dino arms!"
And what kind of T-rex wouldn't have an articulated jaw?
ROBOT MODE
The weapons are still complete.
In Robot mode, the different colors are now starting to bother me. While the T-rex is intimidating enough, the robot mode is on the thin side. Add to that this clownish color scheme and Grimlock looks like a joke.
Also, the toy is pretty old, so some joints are a bit loose. unfortunately, the legs are one of the loose parts. Being top heavy, this bootleg can't stand on its own
Beefy arms - either you love 'em or hate 'em.
Another thing I noticed is that the head is too far back. Grimlock looks weird when viewed from the side.
ROBOT MODE OR T-REX MODE?
Definitely T-rex mode. T-rex mode is cool. Very cool.
PROS
- faithful bootleg of the original
- solid and stable t-rex mode
CONS
- beefy arms (does not bother me, but this can be an issue with purists)
- some loose joints
- brittle plastic
RATING
3 and a half out of 5
Pretty enjoyable bootleg, especially in T-rex mode. If you see one, definitely pick this one up. The only thing I'd repaint here would be the red parts in robot mode.
